How to Wear Your Sweatshirt Like an ‘It Girl’
Sweatshirts… usually reserved for lazy days, early morning workouts and post-gym sessions are now—surprisingly—fashion's newest craze.
We're on board with anything that involves a comfy sweatshirt, so we were pretty excited when we started noticing this trend on our favorite influencers.

However, not to be fooled, there is definitely a trick to pulling off this laidback trend. We've rounded up a few of our fave looks along with styling tips on how to try 'em out yourself.
Layered
This is a more tailored, feminine take on the trend, and an easy way to try out wearing the look. Think of this as your Blair Waldorf moment—reach for a slimmer fit, crew neck sweatshirt and layer it over a collared shirt and pencil skirt.
Vintage Off-Duty
A vintage sweatshirt is always a good idea, especially when paired with cool shorts or jeans for a day of running errands.
As a Dress With Boots
This is definitely the bold way to wear the trend. While it's not appropriate for school, it's something you could get away with on the weekends. Make it more daytime by adding on a pair of tight black jeans or leggings. Extra bonus points if you try it with velvet boots.
With a Skirt
Opposites attract, and in this case, a long, gray sweatshirt looks perfect over a dainty, lace pencil skirt. This look is a great mix of feminine and masculine, especially with those patent boots.

Monochromatic
We can count on Rihanna to make even a paper bag look cool, so it's no surprise that RiRi was one of the first advocates of the styled sweatshirt. She has tons of cool looks to choose from, and even her own line for Puma, but we're especially feeling this rust-colored sweatshirt underneath a matching, silk bomber. Get some inspo of your own by checking out our fave bombers to shop right now.
With Sneakers
Speaking of Rihanna's line for Puma, here's a cool way to rock the sweatshirt dress for daytime—with sneakers! We're loving this lace front version, just make sure it's long enough before you head out of the door for class or work.
Worn as a Top
This look from Chiara Ferragni is proof that sweatshirts are incredibly versatile. When it gets cooler, use a sweatshirt to replace a turtleneck. Genius, right?

With Matching Pants
What's better than wearing a sweatshirt? Wearing a sweatshirt with matching sweatpants. In order to keep the look fashion (and not like you're headed to a track meet), try a interesting color like pastel pink.
Matching With Your S.O.
Who says matching with your significant other is trite? Grab your other half and get them a matching sweatshirt, because #whynot?
