The FlexiSpot Standing Desk and Ergonomic Chair Transformed My Work From Home Routine

As someone who works from home, it is of the utmost importance that I have a comfortable space. You're probably wondering, "Is there something more cozy than typing away on your laptop while in bed?" While it might be more fun, I am much more productive when I have a desk to sit at, and it's surprisingly challenging to find a set that doesn't give me back and neck pain or poor posture.

So, when I learned about FlexiSpot, I immediately thought their products would be a good fit for my physical needs because of their raved desks and ergonomic chairs. The brand was kind enough to let me try it out for myself. Below, discover my complete thoughts about the items.

The Products

C7 Premium Ergonomic Office Chair: $329.99+

The C7 chair has "lower back support, designed for all positions," whether you sit cross-legged or prefer to rest one leg on the other, thanks to its self-adaptive and biomimetic spine. Like your standard chair, it has an adjustable height, seat tilt and armrest. You can also recline it up to 128 degrees.

FlexiSpot has two cushions available with a matching seat guide to decide which (foam or mesh) would be best for your body based on your height and weight.

E7 Plus 4-Leg Standing Desk: On Sale for $549.99+

The base model of the E7 Plus arrives with an adjustable frame to purchase in black or white. For an additional price, you can buy a desktop in chipboard, bamboo, solid wood, solid wood texture or bamboo with a wireless charger.

According to the product description, the E7 Plus has a 540-lb static load capacity. It also has three leg heights, a keypad to create your custom height, plus a USB charging port.

If you have other accessories you'd like to add—such as a monitor mount, an under-desk drawer or a keyboard tray—it's most likely compatible with the E7 Plus. You can also purchase the aforementioned miscellaneous items directly from FlexiSpot's website.

Setting It Up

I often become very frustrated and anxious whenever I have to assemble furniture. So, when my package from FlexiSpot came in multiple parts, I was instantly hesitant about the construction in-store.

To my surprise, FlexiSpot had one of the clearest installation guides I've ever used.

Since the desk is large, it would've been nice to have another person with me to help. However, it is possible to do alone—if I can, anyone can.

It took me around two hours to complete, but as I said before, I am unusually terrible at having to do anything physical. You can likely finish it in under an hour if you have someone handy with you.

I was more concerned about building the C7 than the E7 Plus. I've had nightmare experiences trying to assemble office chairs. However, this time was much smoother than the last. There were still a few moments where I felt like I was forcing things to fit, but most importantly, it came together in the end. It took about 30 more minutes to finish than the E7 Plus, but I expected that to happen.

My Experience

Now, the fun part—using the furniture for roughly eight hours.

Before FlexiSpot offered to send me their products, I used a cheap office chair I found on Amazon for $50. My desk was essentially a glorified picnic table. So, you can probably tell this was a huge upgrade for my working space.

The first thing that I noticed was that my back didn't hurt after the workday ended. I would have to walk around or move to bed for a few hours when I had my old chair. I could easily sit in this chair for the entire shift and wouldn't mind returning after I clocked out.

I've never thought to sit cross-legged in an office chair before, but it crossed (pun intended) my mind after seeing the marketing for the C7. Spoiler alert: it might be my new sitting style of choice. I love having versatility with my positions because I get very antsy, and spinning around doesn't always cut it.

My previous desk was not very sturdy. I'm a hard typer, so my desk would typically shake as I slapped my fingers on the keys, and since it was up against the wall, I would have to listen to it bumping against the foundation. With the E7 Plus, there was zero movement. It was life-changing. I can work without the irritation of scratchy noises for the first time in years.

I attempted the standing position, but I don't think it is my taste. The desk comfortably reached my height (5'4″), but I can't give up sitting. I love being lazy too much! However, it is easy to go from sitting to standing because of the preset buttons. Who knows, though? Maybe one day, I'll be one of those people who use a walk pad to exercise while I'm writing. It would be simple to add one underneath the C7 because there is plenty of floor space.

Bottom Line

Overall, I think the C7 and E7 Plus are suitable options for anyone in the market for new office furniture, especially if you are switching from something cheap like I did. It's less expensive than the luxury options out there—and as someone who has sat in those popular and expensive Herman Miller chairs, there was virtually zero difference when I was sitting in the FlexiSpot offering.

After this, I don't think I can ever revert to my old desk or chair. You don't realize how much your set-up affects your daily routine until you do something better, and boy, the FlexiSpot sure did up my standards.

With all the customizations with FlexiSpot's products, you can create the office of your dreams. You will never have to get up to charge your phone or find your feet getting tangled in your wires.
