How Frawley Brought a True Story of Soul-Crushing Heartbreak to Life in ‘Crying My Eyes Out’
We're not sure why all of our favorite Frawley tracks are about crying, but her latest single, "Crying My Eyes Out," is truly one for the ages.
The soaring ballad is out today, and it's clear in every powerful note that this is a tale of real heartbreak. Frawley's vocals have never been purer, with the pounding piano driving every emotional moment forward, and we're not at all surprised it's already made its mark as a viral track on TikTok. From the moment we heard it, we knew we had to learn more, and we had the pleasure of catching up with Frawley herself to learn all about the true story that inspired the song, and what's next for the star.
The Story Behind 'Crying My Eyes Out'
Frawley: I wrote "Crying My Eyes Out" after I was out with some friends and saw the guy I had been head over heels for, out with somebody else. They were dancing, he was holding her—it felt like a moment straight out of a movie where time was completely frozen and it was just the two of them on the dance floor as I watched from the sidelines wishing I were her.
What 'Crying My Eyes Out' Means
Frawley: I wanted to write the song as self-explanatory as possible, so anyone listening would have no question as to what went on and how badly it hurt. From the moment I started writing the song to now, when I perform it live or even listen back to it in the car, I still feel like I'm standing right where I was when I saw him that very night.
I know I'm not the first girl to be wronged by a guy, but for my listeners, I hope it brings some sense of healing or an opportunity to unpack whatever emotions they may be feeling from their own heartbreak. I think there's a sense of comfort in this song, knowing that we all go through the overall experience of heartache—it is so universal!

On the Fan Response
Frawley: I really fought for this song to have a chance at being released, so to see so many people reaching out to tell me how grateful they are that I was able to put their own thoughts and feelings into words for them is the greatest reward. It's such a personal song for me, and I'm still in my heartbreak era, but it makes it a little bit easier to get through it all knowing I have so many other people alongside me.

Frawley's Favorite Lyric
Frawley: "Wish that love was actually blind. It turns out that the best night of her life is the worst of mine." When that lyric was put to paper, I took a second, sat back and really thought about what I was saying. For some reason, that line seemed to cut deep for me. It's the idea that one girl's night is the best night of her life, in this instance, because she gets the guy she wants, while another girl's night is the complete opposite because she didn't get the guy. It just encapsulated exactly how I felt in the moment.

What's Next
Frawley: I have so much more music on the way that I'm really excited about. I'm at a place in my life where heartbreak seems to be the theme, but I think that's okay. I only write songs about how I feel and what I'm going through, and I think that's why people can resonate with my songs so easily.
