Frozen Musical Comes After Success Of Let It Go!

Disney's Frozen has been a massive success over the last month and a half with box office success, two versions of "Let It Go" in the Top 40, and the announcement of an upcoming Frozen musical live onstage! frozen musical

The film has held steady at the top of the box office charts for weeks after its release, starting last week as the #1 movie in the country and taking home the title of "Best Animated Feature Film" at the Golden Globes.

The Frozen soundtrack also continues to be the best-selling album in the U.S., partially thanks to the not one, but two versions of the inspirational girl power track "Let It Go" featured on the album.

One version of the hit was sung by pop superstar Demi Lovato. The other was performed by Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa the Snow Queen in Frozen, and is also known for playing Elphaba in the first run of the hit Broadway musical Wicked!

Both versions of "Let It Go" have enchanted fans of all ages, and this week both songs have graced Billboard Hot 100's Top 40 charts! Menzel's version is at #27, while Demi's stands at #38.

According to NPR Music's pop critic, Ann Powers, this song about embracing who you really are and not letting anyone else stop you is succeeded because girls can relate to it so readily.

"What I hear is the fact that every 10-year-old girl is coming out of her shell and coming into her own, and she needs this kind of song to grab onto," Powers explained. "They need these kind of pure emotional songs."

We bet this success has also played a role in the decision to adapt the film for the stage into a live-action Frozen musical! We're hoping Menzel will be willing to reprise her role as Elsa and give us a chance to see her perform in person!
