5 Fun, Underrated Ways to Get Active

If you're new to working out, it can be hard to jump into an intense exercise routine. More than likely, you won't exactly know what to do, and it can be grueling if you don't find it enjoyable. On the other hand, if you're a gym rat, you probably get bored of your usual every now and then.

Whether you're a novice or expert, here are five underrated and fun ways to shake up your workout.

Dance Class

Dancing is scientifically proven to release dopamine, which improves your mood—no wonder everyone enjoys it, even if it's in the secrecy of their bedroom. But dancing is also effective exercise. It doesn't matter if you're good at it. Your instructor is there to teach you how to have the correct form. Plus, there's a lot of variety. You can do Zumba, heels or even find a K-pop choreography class.

Themed Cycling Classes

Cycling can be intense. However, you can alter it to fit your interests by taking one that plays music you like—that always makes our workouts fly by. For example, places like CycleBar will have one-off classes highlighting certain artists. Since 1989 (Taylor's Version) was released, you'll probably find a Taylor Swift cycling night.

Roller or Figure Skating

Roller and figure skating are great workouts for beginners because they get harder as you get stronger. You'll learn the basics, which will get your body moving, but the better you get, the more intricate your moves will be. If you ever advance to spinning and jumping, it can really activate your core and strengthen your ankles.
