A Definitive Ranking of Every Girl Scout Cookie Flavor
Girl Scout cookie season comes but once a year—and oh, how sweet it is.
Troops around the United States started selling the tasty treats as part of their annual sale on Jan. 2, so depending on where you live, you might be able to find them already (If not, don't worry, they're coming). There are so many varieties to enjoy and so little time to do it. Luckily, you don't have to buy them all. We've ranked them in order of deliciousness so that you'll have the information you need to choose your cookies wisely.
Regardless of whether you agree with our opinions or not, you'll be supporting a good cause with whichever flavors you choose. Now, let's talk cookies with our definitive ranking of all 11 flavors below.
11. Shortbread/Trefoils
Like all Girl Scout cookies, Shortbreads/Trefoils are pure yum. They pair perfectly with tea. The thing is, though, they're a pretty simple cookie, and we tend to prefer the more decadent options that we ranked above them.
10. Lemonades
You can probably guess what Lemonades taste like. They're tangy, lemony, and sweet, just like lemonade. Essentially, they're Shortbreads/Trefoils with a citrusy twist, which makes them more interesting, yet still not as craveable as the others on this list to come.
9. Toffee-tastic
Toffee adds both taste and crunch to Toffee-tastics. The cookies are nice and buttery, and they also pair perfectly with tea. Yet, although the toffee is a nice touch, we still want more from a cookie.
8. Savannah Smiles
Savannah Smiles take it even further than Lemonades do. These lemon-flavored cookies also have powdered sugar, which we're suckers for. It dissolves so nicely in your mouth. They're a solid cookie, but since Girl Scout cookie season is a special time, we want a more unique option.
7. Caramel Chocolate Chip
The Girl Scouts have introduced their newest cookie, Caramel Chocolate Chip. They had us at "rich caramel, semisweet chocolate chips, and a hint of sea salt." It's gluten-free, which is great, but at the end of the day, we're can only give it so many points because we could make a similar cookie ourselves.
6. Thanks-A-Lot
Not only will Thanks-A-Lots curb your hunger, they'll even teach you how to say "thanks" in different languages. These shortbread cookies have fudge on the bottom, and that's a perfect touch. There's just a limit to how high we can rank shortbread options, though. Like we said, we want decadence from our desserts.
5. Girl Scout S'mores
S'mores, in cookie form? Yes, please. We love the combination of graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow flavor filling. They're worthy of a pretty high spot on the list, hence their placement here, but we just don't find them quite as satisfying as the ones to come.
4. Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs
Peanut Butter and chocolate belong together. There are so many examples of this, and Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs are one of them. These also just have such a great crunch, and that vaults them ahead of Girl Scout S'mores. That said, they're arguably too rich, so they didn't make the top three.
3. Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich
Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwiches are both sweet and a little salty, and the combo really, really works. Plus, there are oats in them, so the cookies are healthy… right? These aren't as rich as the Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, so we find that we crave them more. They don't inspire as much love as the next two options, though, so we're leaving them in the third spot.
2. Thin Mints
Thin Mints are one of the most popular Girl Scout cookie flavors, and for good reason. They have a strong minty flavor that works perfectly with chocolate, and they freeze well if you want to save them for later. Yet through no fault of Thin Mints' own, there is one cookie we adore even more.
1. Caramel deLites/Samoas
Ah, Caramel deLites/Samoas—there's so much to love about them. All year, we look forward to their unique and perfect chocolate, caramel, and toasted coconut crunch. Nothing beats that oh-so-delicious combination.
