7 Good-for-You Candy Substitutes You HAVE to Try This Year
Halloween is right around the corner, which for many of us means it's the season of attempting to avoid all temptation and ignore the deliciously festive treats being waved in our faces.
Thankfully, for the sugar-, carb- or calorie-conscious, there are alternatives. Through the miracle of science, many candy companies are finding ways to offer perfectly tasty treats, minus a bunch of the nasty stuff you're trying to ditch.
If you've been on the lookout for new and innovative ways to satisfy your sweet tooth, here are seven brands you have to try this year.
Behave
Behave specializes in delicious gummy bears with only three grams of sugar, 90 calories and six grams of net carbs per bag. They're ultra-soft and chewy and come in lychee, passionfruit and raspberry flavors in both sweet and a mouth-puckeringly sour variety. Plus, you'd never know they were "healthy" by taste alone. They're sweetened with monk fruit, which is a pretty magical ingredient.

Smart Sweets
Looking for more versatility with your gummy treats? Then you'll probably want to check out Smart Sweets, a company that makes gummies free of sugar alcohols, added sugars and artificial sweeteners, offering candies with 92% less sugar than traditional brands. While their best-known product is their classic Sweet Fish (think Swedish Fish, but even better-tasting), they've now branched out into all kinds of gummy treats including Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, Gummy Worms and more.

Choc Zero
Here at Sweety High, we are long-time fans of Choc Zero's sugar-free chocolate treats. Their chocolates are also sweetened with monk fruit, and their online shop includes everything from chocolate squares and bark to peanut butter cups and even chocolate syrup and baking chips for chocolate chip cookies. Plus, many of their products are also keto-friendly.

JoJo's
Halloween is a very chocolate-centric holiday, so we're not even close to being done showcasing our favorite unusually healthy chocolate brands. That includes JoJo's, a brand that's all about reducing sugar and chocolate cravings through dark chocolate bars packed with great ingredients, like nuts and fruit. These bars are seriously satisfying, and will make you forget you were ever hankering for a junky chocolate bar.

Lily's
Here's another brand dedicated to making great-tasting chocolate with less sugar. Lily's is one of the more gourmet companies on this list, with stevia-sweetened high-cocoa bars in fancy flavors like Salted Caramel, Blood Orange and Coconut Dark Chocolate. Their bars have a classic break-and-share shape, but they're so much better than a Hershey's—and better for you, too.

Raisels
A lot of people immediately run and hide at the word "raisin," but we promise that Raisels are absolutely worth it. Raisels take golden raisins and pump them full of delicious fruity flavor, making them taste as good as any fruity candy, but with an even better texture. Our favorites are the Raisels Sours, which put Sour Patch Kids to shame, but the spicy varieties are also worth a try. Plus, the fact you're eating actual fruit is an added bonus.

UnReal
Imagine all of your favorite chocolatey Halloween candies. UnReal probably has their own version, but with 40% less sugar. The company was created by two siblings whose parents prevented them from eating too much chocolate, inspiring them to create healthier, parent-approved treats. If you've been on the lookout for a vegan and low-sugar alternative to Snickers, or Mounds, or Reese's Peanut Butter Cup or M&M's, they've got it.
