Gunnar Gehl Reveals All of the Reasons He’s So Excited to Be Touring Again in 2021
20-year-old singer-songwriter Gunnar Gehl hasn't hit the road for a tour since 2018, but tonight, Nov. 9, that all changes.
Today kicks off the What a Shame Tour in Dallas, Texas, with Gunnar supporting headliner Spencer Sutherland and also touring alongside Tiffany Stringer in his first tour dates in years. We've been watching Gunnar's incredible growth as an artist over that time, and we seriously can't wait to see him perform new tracks including "She's in My Head" all over the nation.
We just had to find out what it means to Gunnar to finally be touring again, and he revealed all to us in the following interview.
Sweety High: How long has it been since your last tour? How excited are you to get back on the road?
Gunnar Gehl: It's literally been three years since I last toured and words couldn't describe how excited I am. Performing and the live aspect of my career are my favorite and best parts, so to finally be back doing it, in multiple cities, is the perfect welcome back to performing.
SH: How have you, and your music, changed since the last time you were able to get out there? Are there any songs you're particularly excited to perform live?
GG: The music has changed a bunch! My first tour was really before I even had a real identity. I'm super excited for this tour because I feel like I have developed so much more in terms of performing and music, so I can't wait to see how everyone reacts. I am very excited for the whole set, but our show opener is a good one for sure.
SH: How excited are you to be touring with Spencer Sutherland and Tiffany Stringer?
GG: I haven't met them yet, but I have only heard amazing things and I can't wait to build a friendship with both of them!
SH: What's your favorite thing about touring?
GG: The energy in those rooms—performing, seeing everybody and just doing what I feel like I'm supposed to be doing.
SH: How do you feel before you hit the stage, and how does that change once you're performing?
GG: Before the show starts, I get butterflies and the nerves kick in, but as soon as I walk out on stage it turns into energy and pure happiness and excitement.
SH: Is there anything special about this tour that we can look forward to?
GG: Teasing some sounds and songs that really showcase who Gunnar Gehl in 2022 is going to be. I'm really excited about what's to come.
SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
GG: Come to a show!
