5 Hacks for Saving Money on Your Makeup Routine

by Vanessa Nyfeler

We all want to look our best, but let's be real: beauty comes at a price, and not a cheap one.

Makeup and skincare products can be quite expensive, but that doesn't mean you have to go without them if you're trying to save some cash. Here are five tips to save money on your makeup routine without making any sacrifices.

Cutting Products Open

Did you know that many lipsticks and foundations can be cut open to reveal even more product? You might even save up the amount of a whole product over the course of the year with the amount you find inside within the containers.

Using Lipstick as Blush

Lipsticks are available in all different shades. If you have a pink, red or peach-colored one, you can also use it as a blush. Just check the ingredients first to make sure it'll be safe for your skin.

Going for Dupes

TikTok and other social media platforms can make you believe that good makeup has to be expensive. Wrong! Fortunately, many brands produce so-called dupes (short for duplicates), which are similar products at lower prices. Here are a few examples:

Using Bronzer as Eyeshadow

Do you contour or bronze your cheeks? Perfect, because you can also use that product as eyeshadow. It looks good in addition to being simple and affordable.

Buying Reusable Cotton Pads

Unfortunately, spending money on beauty isn't just about makeup. At the end of the day, we have to safely remove it, too. Instead of using disposable bottom pads and removal wipes (which are basically money down the drain), try checking our reusable varieties. They're good for the environment and your wallet.
