Happy Birthday Ross Lynch + A Guide To R5!
Today we'd like to wish an incredible birthday to Teen Beach Movie and Austin & Ally heartthrob Ross Lynch. He turns 18 today!
While Ross is a teen idol known for his acting on the Disney Channel, he's also one fifth of the pop-rock group R5, whose debut album was released in September! Ross and three of his siblings, plus a long-time friend, make up the band.
If you're not already an R5 buff, here's a handy guide to the Lynch siblings and R5!
Riker, Rydel, Rocky, Ross, and Ryland Lynch are siblings who were born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. They all attended the Artistic Fusion Dance Academy where they learned to sing and dance.
The four Lynch brothers were all a part of "The Rage Boyz Crew" on So You Think You Can Dance in 2009. That year, the Lynch family met Ellington Ratliff, their future drummer.
Riker Lynch – Born November 8, 1991
Riker Lynch is the oldest of the Lynch siblings, as well as the bassist and one of the lead vocalists of R5. When Riker was 16, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. His parents decided that the rest of the family should make the move with him.
Riker is best friends with band drummer Ellington Ratliff. He also starred on Glee as Jeff, one of the Dalton Academy Warblers.
Rydel Lynch – Born August 9, 1993
Rydel is R5's keyboardist and background vocalist.
She's the only girl of the group, which makes her the band's secret weapon! After all, every group could benefit from a little girl power!
We also love when she gets to take the lead on the vocals, like on on R5's live cover of "Call Me Maybe!"
Ellington Ratliff – Born April 14, 1994
Ellington is the drummer and background vocalist of R5, and the only member of the band that's not one of the Lynch siblings. He's best friends with Riker Lynch.
Ellington often goes by his last name, "Ratliff," to keep in line with the other R names.
Like Riker and Ross Lynch, he is also an actor. You might have seen him as Ian on Nickelodeon's Victorious!
Rocky Lynch – Born November 1, 1994
Rocky Lynch is the lead guitarist and one of the lead vocalists of R5. He is the middle child of the Lynch family and the group's primary songwriter.
While he's known as "the quiet one," the songs he writes speak volumes.
Ross Lynch – Born December 29, 1995 (Happy birthday Ross!)
Ross Lynch is known not just as the main vocalist and rhythm guitarist of R5, but also from his starring roles on the Disney Channel as Austin in Austin & Ally and as Brady in the film Teen Beach Movie.
Ryland Lynch – Born April 17, 1997
Ryland is the youngest of the Lynch siblings at 16, and doesn't play as one of the members of R5. However, he does consider himself somewhat of a band manager to his four older siblings and Ellington!
