It's the season for giving, so check out these suggestions below and learn what you can do to make a difference!

1. Hold a toy drive.

One of the big perks of the holiday season is getting the gifts you've been waiting for all year, but receiving great presents is something a lot of us take for granted. Many families around the country just can't afford to buy their kids holiday gifts.

By holding a toy drive, you can put a fun new gift in the hands of a child who may otherwise go empty-handed this year. Organize a toy drive with your school or community and ask people to donate their unused toys in their original packaging. It could really make a child's season brighter!

2. Make holiday blankets for kids in the hospital.

No one wants to spend the holiday season in the hospital, but it's a reality many kids face each year. Hospitals aren't the warmest and happiest places for children, but things can be a little easier for them when they have cozy and colorful blankets to snuggle up with.

Bring together your friends and family to make your holiday blankets together. It lightens the load, and makes the time go by faster! When you're done, speak with your local hospital and ask if you can give out the blankets in person to spread some holiday cheer!

3. Go holiday caroling.

Gather up your friends, practice your vocals a bit, and then head out to the hospital or a nursing home to spread some holiday joy through singing! Make sure to contact the location first and ask where you'll be allowed to sing.

Even if you don't sound like Ariana Grande, you're sure to bring a smile to some faces!

4. Make cards for the troops.

Many men and women in the military can't be home for the holidays, but that doesn't mean we can't help them feel a little piece of home with homemade holiday cards! A card from a stranger wishing them the best and thanking them for their service is a surefire way to raise spirits.

Make some personalized cards with your friends and family, then get int ouch with Holiday Mail for Heroes or Operation Christmas Cards to get the cards to their destination!

5. Hold a food drive.

Many families have huge meals to celebrate the holidays at the end of the year, but many families simply don't have the means to this kind of holiday celebration.

Make a holiday meal a possibility for a family in need by donated holiday foods to a local shelter!
