These 7 #HomemadeDisney ‘Rides’ Are Bound to Make You Smile

Disney World… in your living room?

As Disney parks around the globe remain closed in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus, families who planned to visit one of the attractions (or those just looking for a bit of fun while stuck in quarantine) have taken to social media to share their #HomemadeDisney "rides."

The concept is simple—take one of Disney's popular attractions (think Splash Mountain or Star Wars: Smugglers Run) and recreate it in your own home for endless fun.

Pirates of the Caribbean

One family recreated Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean ride in their own home, complete with an announcer, a legitimately thrilling trip down the stairs, and, of course, an array of pirates in their kitchen and living room. We especially loved when even the family dog got in on the fun.

The Haunted Mansion

This spooky attraction is at three Disney parks across the globe, but it turns out you don't actually need to leave your own home for some ghoulish fun. This married couple completely captured The Haunted Mansion's creepy nature thanks to a terrifying voiceover, some awesome lighting tricks, truly terrifying sound effects and more.

Jungle Cruise

Disney's actual ride promises a "scenic and comedic boat tour of exotic rivers across Asia, Africa and South America," and this homemade recreation doesn't disappoint. A jacuzzi tub functions as the boat itself, while other rooms in the house represent parts of the jungle, the Nile and beyond.

Splash Mountain

One of the first #HomemadeDisney "rides" to go viral was this at-home take on the theme park classic, Splash Mountain. While this version might not have those gravity-defying drops that Splash Mountain is known for, there's certainly a need for those colorful ponchos!

Frozen Ever After

The Disney World attraction, which is part of Epcot, is a reversing log flume ride with cameos from all the Frozen favorites. This multi-room version features appearances from Olaf, Sven, and of course a singing Anna and Elsa. In fact, the family guinea pig even makes a LOL-worthy appearance, too.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

What we love about this recreation is that it doesn't forget to include one of the few downsides of a Disney visit—the long, long lines. Those who've been on Disneyland's Smugglers Run (which is located in Star Wars Land) will probably get a laugh over how accurate this recreation really is.

'It's a Small World'

No Disney vacation is complete without a turn on the "It's a Small World" ride, which is bound to get its titular tune stuck in your head for at least the next three days. Like the real-life attraction located in multiple Disney parks, this version includes characters dressed in traditional costumes from cultures around the globe. As Twitter user Kate Abbott, who posted the video, shared: "It's a world of hopes and a world of fears…but let's focus on the hope right now. Prepare to embark on our version of the happiest cruise that ever sailed!"
