Step Info Fall By Crafting A Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte!

There's nothing better than sipping a pumpkin spice latte on a rainy fall afternoon! With this recipe (adapted from The Kitchn), you can learn how to make one at home without having to run to a coffee shop or spend $5 on a single cup of coffee!pumpkin spice latte recipe

Be sure to ask your parents for help before using the stove or heating any hot liquids and follow the instructions below!

You will need:

  • an espresso maker (either a Mocha Pot Espresso Maker or an automatic espresso machine).
  • 6 to 8 ounces of milk
  • enough espresso beans to make 1 shot of espresso
  • 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • sugar to taste

Prepare the Milk Base

Combine the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, sugar, and milk in a saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and start whisking the ingredients together. Mix the ingredients well and then begin to whisk them until the mixture is hot and frothy. If you have an automatic frother, you can use this to help you to better froth the ingredients together.

Note: If you are vegan or sensitive to milk, you can always substitute milk with soy or almond milk. However, soy and almond milk may froth differently than regular milk.

Place aside.

Prepare the Espresso

Prepare your shot of espresso using your espresso maker. If you do not have an expresso maker, you can substitute the espresso for extra strong coffee brewed using a coffee maker, french press, etc.

Pour the espresso shot into a mug. Then, add the pumpkin mixture that you prepared on the stove.

You are all done! You can always top your latte off with some foamed milk and/or sprinkle some extra pumpkin spice, cinnamon, or nutmeg on top.
