How to Be a Better Human Being
Being a human being ain't easy, especially nowadays.
With the amount of negativity there currently is in the world, we all need to be a positive force of light. There are tons of good people in the world. If you can't find one, be one.
Not sure where to begin? Below are nine things you can do to be a better person to yourself and others.
Educate Yourself
It's up to you to discover for yourself what's happening in the world. School only teaches you so much, so you need to further that education yourself. Being aware of world events or why a certain culture believes something will make you a well-rounded person. You'll better understand where people are coming from, which opens the floor to favorable discussions about anything and everything.

Volunteer
If you can set aside an hour out of your day, week or even month to volunteer with a cause that's important to you, do so. You'll feel so good knowing that the time you spent socializing with shelter animals or planting trees in a park has improved this planet and all those on it.

Treat People the Way You Want to Be Treated
This goes without saying, but be nice to your fellow human beings. Far too often, we treat each other with such hate and disrespect because we are unhappy with our own lives and can't stand to see someone else flourish. Stop! Be gracious and kind and fair. We shouldn't let our differences tear us apart, for it will do more harm than good.

Forgive
Learn to let things go. It isn't easy, nor will it happen overnight, but it's critical that it happens. Harboring negative feelings towards someone for what they did to you will only fill you with so much hatred and rage that you'll act out in ways you shouldn't. You don't have to forget what they did, but you must forgive. The same goes for your relationship with yourself. If you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up about it. Laugh it off and learn from it.

Listen
Be open to hearing what others have to say about a certain topic, even if you disagree with them. Don't let your strong opinions about something shut you off from listening to people with opposing viewpoints. You'll become so much more aware of what's happening in the world, and even in the lives of those you care about, when you open your ears.

Speak Your Mind
On the opposite side of listening, you should be free to express your viewpoints. If you notice any kind of injustice or see something that doesn't sit right with you, speak up. Your voice is powerful and needs to be heard. Don't be silent because you fear what others will think of you. Not saying anything is just as bad as supporting wrongdoing.

Take Care of Yourself
As important as it is to be there for your fellow humans, you can also do no good if you're not fully healthy. Be nice to yourself and treat yourself with the upmost respect. We know you hear this all the time, but love yourself. Your relationship with yourself is more important than any relationship in your life. After all, you're stuck with yourself forever.

Embrace Change
Change is a natural and necessary part of life. Try as hard as you might, nothing will ever stay the same. We know it's a scary thing to deal with, especially considering you're never really sure how the change will affect your life, but you need to learn to be okay with it. You'll enjoy so many more experiences than you ever thought possible, if you do so. Plus, you'll notice an increase in your self-confidence. Change is good, remember that.
