The summer solstice on June 21 is less than a week away, and while it marks the longest day of the year, it's also quite significant on an astrological level.
According to astrology, the summer solstice carries a unique energy that will influence all signs of the zodiac, and we got the chance to speak with expert astrologer Lumi Pelinku to learn more. What Is the Summer Solstice?
Lumi Pelinku: The summer solstice on June 21 marks the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day of the year, and astrologically it is the first day of Cancer season. Cancer is a cardinal sign in modality, indicating the start of something new. As the sun radiates the lightest, it will highlight a signature theme in the birth chart. Every cardinal sign—Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn—rules the beginning of a new season and for our storyline. For Cancer season, we will expect a period of wanting to build up layers of intimacy in our relationships. Just after summer begins, Mercury, the messenger planet, will be phasing into Cancer, and the dialogue exchanges will start with "I feel." You can expect a lot of emotional discussions, and if this is not your communication style, consider this a crash course in learning how to get more in touch with your feelings.
