How to Achieve TikTok’s Viral Reverse Cat Eye
TikTok has become our go-to place for keeping up with all the latest styles and trends in the fashion and beauty worlds.
And since we're finally in the midst of hot girl summer (RIP summer 2020), we plan on going all out. Whether it's a day at the pool with our besties, a night out with the person we've been crushing on or going on a shopping spree, there are so many fun things to choose from. But you know what all of those things have in common? For us, we plan on looking cute for each and every summer venture.
Nails, hair and makeup are one surefire way to achieve all of that before the outfit even comes to mind. So, when we were scrolling through TikTok the other day and learned about the reverse cat eye, we knew we needed to try it out for ourselves and see if it was worth the hype. And guess what? It totally is. If you're a fan too, keep scrolling for a step-by-step guide for achieving TikTok's viral reverse cat eye.
The Products You Need
All you need for a reverse cat eye is an eyeliner pencil and a smudge brush. It also goes without saying that mascara and a pair of lashes would complete the look.
Step-by-Step
The reverse cat eye is pretty much foolproof because it's meant to be messy and smudgy. To start off, grab your fave black eyeliner pencil and draw a rough line under your lower lashes, as close to the lash line as possible. Make sure to cover the entirety of the lower lash line.
Next, grab your smudge brush and get to smudging. And when we say smudge brush, we mean something that has strong and short bristles. Gently sweep the brush along where you've placed the eyeliner and bring sure to wing it out at the outer corner, just as you would with a normal cat eye.

You're pretty much done, however, there are a few optional steps you could take that we highly recommend. First, we suggest filling in the lower water line with your pencil. This will give off the effect of sultry eyes, and that's the exact look we're going after. You can also create a small inner wing of sorts, just as you created an outer wing. Grab your brush and gently stroke out a wing on the inner corner. The look is fierce but stunning.
If you're going after a more subtle reverse cat eye, we have some tips. We suggest switching out black eyeliner for something lighter, like brown. Also, stick with a neutral eyeshadow and only mascara for the lashes. You'll look effortlessly beautiful.
