How to Seamlessly Transition Your Wardrobe From Winter to Spring

Transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring is not as daunting as you might think.

Depending on where you live and the type of weather you deal with in the cold months of winter, your transition to a new season should not be too difficult. If you're trying to "spring clean" your closet by getting rid of your winter clothes but aren't exactly sure where to start, you've come to the right place! Continue below to find out how to seamlessly transition your wardrobe from winter to spring.

Ditch Darker Colors

While dark colors will always have a spot in our wardrobe, spring is the time to start transitioning lighter colors back in. For the winter, you probably wore things like leather and turtlenecks, but for spring, switch things up! Wear a floral dress with your leather jacket or a light-colored chiffon skirt with your turtleneck. You can also start wearing lighter-washed jeans!

Store Away Heavy Coats and Winter-Only Gear

Now that the super cold days are giving us a break, you might as well free up some space in your closet by storing away your heavy coats and winter-only gear. From thick pants to heavy sweaters, snow boots, beanies, gloves and more, pretty much all of it can be put into storage. We do, however, suggest keeping at least a few things in easy reach, since spring weather can sometimes be all over the place!

Cardigans and Sweaters Are a Must

During the winter you likely wore cardigans and sweaters, making them the easiest transitional piece. You can wear it on its own with light-washed jeans or atop a flowy skirt for more of a feminine vibe. Just remember to keep the rest of your outfit easy and breezy. After all, the last thing you want is to be sweaty and too hot!

Stick With High Boots

Booties and slippers are another winter favorite, and in our transition to spring, we think donning high boots is a total must. Not only do they look so good with a spring dress, but they also work with things like shorts, jeans and pants. Whether you opt for over-the-knee boots, ones that hit just below the knees or calf-high boots, there are so many adorable options to choose from.

Go for Lightweight Fabrics

Instead of heavy, furry fabrics, spring is all about lightweight, flowy ones! From chiffon to silk, crepe and more, you likely already have quite a few pieces in your closet already. On a typical spring day where it's brisker in the morning then gets warmer as the sun comes up, wearing a lighter fabric under a sweater or cardigan is the best idea. That way, you won't have to do a full wardrobe change!
