HYBE and Geffen Announce Auditions For New U.S.-Based Girl Group

If you're a K-pop stan who's ever dreamed of being part of a girl group of your own, here's your chance.

HYBE—the label behind K-pop superstars including BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER and SEVENTEEN—announced on Nov. 4 that they would be forming a brand new all-girl group in collaboration with U.S. record label Geffen Records, known for huge acts including Olivia Rodrigo, Mary J. Blige, and DJ Snake.

In the 45-second trailer, the two powerhouse labels announced that they will be holding a Global Girl Group Audition from Nov. 3 through Nov. 28, 2021. Any girl between the ages of 15 and 19 (16 and 19  for European residents) and has a knack for singing, dancing or rapping has the chance to join a band formed by two of the biggest record labels in pop music. The new girl group will reportedly be based in Los Angeles and will be the first all-girl group from the U.S to be modeled on the world-famous K-pop training and development system. Those selected will train for months developing their music, performances, fashion and music videos before finally releasing music to the public.

According to the two labels, they hope to launch a "global, diverse and multi-talented girl pop group made up of artists around the world who are deeply passionate about music and aspire to be the next global superstar." If that sounds like you, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
