Indi Star Dishes on Her New Song ‘Afterglow’ and the Things That Always Leave Her Glowing

You might know the multi-talented Indi Star from her acting, her popular YouTube channel or her massive social media pages and not even know that she's also a skilled singer-songwriter, but her new single "Afterglow" cements her firmly as an incredible pop talent.

The new track is chill and summery, with an anthemic sound that'll have you listening again and again. For us, it was love at first listen, and we were lucky enough to have Indi spill all the details and reveal how the song came to be and just what it means to her.

Sweety High: What was the songwriting process behind "Afterglow"? Was it inspired by a real relationship?

Indi Star: Yes, it was actually inspired by a real relationship, or what I thought the relationship was at the time. The songwriting process is strange because some parts come really easy, and some take some digging. You might have a feeling or thought that you want to get out but sometimes it can be hard to get that feeling out into words that will sound good!

SH: What types of things always leave you happy and glowing?

IS: When I see other people that are happy, when I go shopping for clothes, hugs, bright colors, animals, sunsets and sunrises, people smiling, and just the little things in life.

SH: What's your favorite lyric from the track?

IS: "Guess we missed karaoke, I'm obsessed with you low-key." I like how I sang it!

SH: What artists and songs have you had on repeat lately?

IS: Anything by Olivia Rodrigo, James Arthur and One Direction.

SH: Is there anything else you want people to know about the song?

IS: I am so proud of this song! I really feel like I'm starting to get into songs that I really enjoy singing. My other songs I loved, but I feel like I'm maturing more into the music business. And I hope it at least puts a smile on one person's face!
