Jade LeMac Revisits Her Hit Song ‘Constellations’ and Its Continued Success

If you're anything like us, you binged the new Netflix series, My Life With the Walter Boys, over the winter break.

The show brings all of the teen drama and unforgettable love story of the Wattpad novel of the same name to the screen—and it also has a stellar soundtrack. That soundtrack happens to feature Jade LeMac's viral debut single, "Constellations." The 19-year-old Canadian pop singer-songwriter's first hit truly never went away, and since the release of the show, it's found new life, with more than half a million new streams daily (and for good reason). The song is as dreamy and stunning as it is emotionally impactful, and we got the chance to catch up with Jade to learn more about its meaning, its evolution and why it's important to her that people still love it two years later.

The Story Behind 'Constellations'

Jade LaMac: "Constellations" is a song about love and the intimacy that comes along with it. Very often, when you feel strongly about a person, you want to be with them all the time, and with this song, I wanted to capture a special moment that I could have forever.

What 'Constellations' Means

JL: This song means the world to me simply because it is the first song of mine that I had ever put out and I think it will always be special to me for that reason. Something that I adore about this song is all the interpretations from the listeners. I love that they all connect to the song in different ways. That has always been my goal, for people to feel what they want to feel while listening to my music.

Jade's Favorite Lyric

JL: "Your freckles lead the way, I trace your constellations." This lyric is my favorite because I believe it is just so visual, and allows my imagination to drift and really picture the song in my mind.

On the Success of 'Constellations'

JL: Watching the song come back to life after more than two years was an incredible feeling. It's so amazing to see new people find the song and reach out about how they connect with it, but to also see so many people who used to love the song now fall in love with it all over again.

What's Next

JL: There is new music coming very soon 😉

Final Thoughts

JL: Well, for everyone who has discovered the piano version, there's also a live version on YouTube that is slightly different—so definitely go check that out as well!
