iCarly Star Jaidyn Triplett Dishes on the Reboot and Her New Character, Millicent
After more than nine years off the air, iCarly is finally back today, June 17, in the form of a reboot on Paramount+—and we could not be happier.
The new series will see the return of beloved stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, as well as Jerry Trainor as her big brother Spencer and Nathan Kress as her best friend, Freddie—but there will be some newcomers to the cast as well. That includes 10-year-old Jaidyn Triplett, who stars as the new character Millicent, who just might dethrone Carly as the newest viral web star.
When we found out, we just had to get to know more about Jaidyn and her role in the series—and we got our opportunity when we got to chat with her about all things Millicent!
Sweety High: Were you a fan of the original iCarly before getting cast in the reboot?
Jaidyn Triplett: I am a fan of the original iCarly. I started binge-watching a couple of seasons when it was released on Netflix. Before I could finish, I was given the opportunity to audition for the role of Millicent! It has been a dream ever since.
SH: What has it been like to work alongside the original cast on the series?
JT: It has really been a magical experience learning from my castmates. As the youngest cast member, I appreciate their wisdom and guidance through this new world.
SH: In what ways are you and your character, Millicent, similar? In what ways are you different?
JT: I am similar to my character Millicent in the way that we both can appreciate a good laugh. We're different in our approach to getting our way. In real life, "please" and "thank you" normally gets me pretty far. In Millicent's world, it's not that simple.
SH: Do you have any favorite memories from the set?
JT: The first time walking on set would have to be the most memorable moment so far. I remember seeing the set props and it taking me back to the original universe.
SH: How social media-savvy are you in real life? Do you feel like you'd be good at Millicent's job?
JT: I'm already a huge fan of social media apps like TikTok, so portraying this part of my character Millicent came second nature.
SH: What's the one app you couldn't live without?
JT: Honestly, ask any of my castmates and they'll tell you TikTok. I convince them to be a part of my dancing routines in between scenes pretty often.
SH: What will fans of the original series love about this reboot?
JT: The original fans of iCarly will appreciate throwbacks and familiar faces. I'm sure they'll love the iCarly universe they grew up on, now "all grown up." This was designed with them in mind.
SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
JT: I'm grateful to be a part of this iconic show now and I hope the fans love the result of the hard work put in both on and off the screen.
