Jesse Gold Indulges Listeners With His ‘Fun, Petty’ New Single ‘All Over Again’

If you're not already familiar with the smooth sounds of Canadian pop-R&B singer-songwriter Jesse Gold, allow us to introduce you to one of your new favorite artists.

He just dropped his first single of the year, the nostalgic and irresistibly playful "All Over Again," and it's everything we could want from a tongue-in-cheek post-breakup song. With its '00s vibes, it has a comfy familiarity while still feeling ridiculously fresh, and we dare you not to bop along when you listen to it. We've loved it from the first listen, and we got the chance to ask Jesse himself all about the track, its lyrics and how it came to be.

The Story Behind 'All Over Again'

Jesse Gold: "All Over Again" is a fantasy. It's that daydream you have of someone trying to get back in your life after they see you doing big things. I don't love that kind of thinking, but sometimes it feels so good to imagine the ones who didn't give us the time of day, working so hard to win us back. "All Over Again" is the product of indulging in those toxic (but fun) thoughts.

What 'All Over Again' Means

JG: To me, it's an affirmation that I have grown, and will continue to grow, into a better version of myself. I hope it does the same for anyone who listens. It's a fun, petty song, but underneath all of that is a foundation of self-growth. I also hope it means that they wanna blast it all summer long.

Jesse's Favorite Lyric:

JG:  The lyric that best describes the song is the bridge: "Little glow up, then you show up." But my favorite line is, "When you had the chance to stay, you wanted to go. So now you stand in line and pay full price at the shows." It's based on a true story which makes it so fun to sing.
