Definitive Ranking of the 5 Classic Jolly Rancher Flavors

There's a single question that has plagued humanity for years—which Jolly Rancher flavor is the best?

Much like the Left and Right Twix debate, this discussion has divided family and friends for decades, so we decided to settle the issue once and for all.

Keep scrolling for a definitive ranking of classic Jolly Rancher flavors.

5. Grape

Grape is undoubtedly the worst Jolly Rancher flavor. It tastes like children's cough medicine, but instead of swallowing it in one gulp and getting the taste out of your mouth, you have to keep suffering through the flavor until the entire candy has dissolved. There's nothing enjoyable about the grape Jolly Rancher, and if you like that flavor then you can't sit with us.

4. Green Apple

Green apple is better than grape, but only by a small margin. To its credit, it tastes exactly like biting into a green apple, which is awesome if you love green apples, but not so great if you prefer their sweeter red counterparts. Green apple has a slightly tangy taste, which we're sure some people find enjoyable, but we prefer the sweeter flavors to the tartness of green apple.

3. Cherry

Cherry is where Jolly Ranchers really start to step up their game. It's a nice balance of sweet and sour—in fact, it blends the flavors so well that sometimes it's hard to pin down exactly which taste you're getting. It captures the taste of cherry and it's perfectly enjoyable to eat. Unfortunately, it can sometimes take on a medicinal flavor similar to that of the grape Jolly Rancher, but it's much easier to ignore than the overwhelmingly gross taste of grape.

2. Watermelon

You can feel however you want about watermelon Jolly Ranchers, but they are definitely the No. 2 flavor, and we'll fight anyone who says otherwise. They're super similar to cherry, but they don't have that medicinal flavor that we hate because who has ever made a watermelon-flavored medicine? Sweet, tangy and super enjoyable, watermelon Jolly Ranchers are definitely one of our faves.

1. Blue Raspberry

That's right, people. Blue raspberry is the ultimate Jolly Rancher flavor. It has a sweeter overall taste than the other flavors of Jolly Ranchers, but there's a slight undercurrent of sourness that makes it super enjoyable to suck on. We could eat blue raspberry Jolly Ranchers all day every day, making them the ultimate queen of the Jolly Rancher world.
