We Spoke With Julia Antonelli (AKA, Wheezie) All About Season 2 of Outer Banks
Outer Banks took the world by storm last summer when it was released during quarantine, and for good reason.
The show gained major traction and is now a household name. We were not at all shocked when it was officially announced that a season two was in the works—and guess what? It's almost here! Next Friday, July 30, is the release date of Season 2 of Outer Banks on Netflix, and we couldn't be more excited.
We had the opportunity to chat with Julia Antonelli, aka Wheezie Cameron, all about Season 2. Keep scrolling for our full interview with Julia where she tells us all about being on set, who she likes to act with and more.
Sweety High: How has your life changed since the first season of Outer Banks was released?
Julia Antonelli: My life has changed dramatically since the release of Outer Banks. It took me by surprise really, as I don't think any of us (being the cast) believed it would be this big of a show. Some things that have changed are I get noticed around in public sometimes, people call me by my screen name Wheezie all the time, my Instagram is filled with comments regarding the show and it has helped me build up a lot of confidence in myself and my career in acting.
SH: What does a typical day on set look like?
JA: A typical day on set is waking up early at 6 a.m. for hair, makeup and dressing. That usually takes around two hours and then I wait in my trailer for a bit. I usually do school at this point or just browse my phone. After this you get called to set, where you film your scenes for the day. Then lunch and back to set to finish the scenes for the day. Although times change consistently, as different scenes require different lighting and therefore different time of day.
SH: Is there a funny memory you have from being on set?
JA: There is a scene in Season 2 where Wheezie has Rafe pack her suitcase (can't say why, unfortunately) but Rafe is chucking clothes at me and I couldn't keep my laughter in for the life of me.
SH: What's it like working with the rest of the cast?
JA: Working with the cast is genuinely a great time. I always feel like I'm learning, as they are all such good actors and kind people. Watching them, I see myself improving and I really hope for a Season 3!
SH: What kind of growth can we expect to see from your character, Wheezie, this season?
JA: You can expect to see Wheezie grow as an individual, as she starts to care more about her family and less about gossip. She really cares about her sister and strives to help her in any way she can.
SH: Who is your favorite person to act with on set?
JA: My favorite person to act with on set is Drew who plays Rafe. He plays his role extremely well, sets the tone in each scene perfectly and I have learned so much over these few years watching him.
SH: Do you have any other projects in the works?
JA: I fortunately did manage to get a role for a project coming up and although I can't talk about it much, I can't wait for everyone to see it!
SH: Can you give us a hint about what to expect from the new season of Outer Banks?
JA: This new season of Outer Banks is way more chaotic and way more exciting. Season 1 was more focused on introducing the characters, setting and plot, while Season 2 is way more revolved around the gold and has a lot more action. I think people will enjoy it way more, as I personally felt on my toes and couldn't stop watching. I can't wait for everyone to see it!
SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
JA: Thank you so much for the interview opportunity and make sure to see Wheezie in action on Outer Banks Season 2 coming to Netflix July 30.
