We interviewed Julia Sheer about her history with music, some of her favorite things, and what's next in her career!

Julia Sheer has been singing for as long as she can remember. Music was a huge part of her childhood. Her grandmother was a music teacher, and her father also sings. About 4 years ago she started taking singing very seriously.

Julia is known for writing original songs as well as performing beautiful interpretations of established songs.

"I try to choose songs that I like, and that I think my listeners will also enjoy," Julia explained. "Most of the time I don't really like the music that is topping the charts so I have to get creative with my song choices."

Most recently, Julia has covered tracks by Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran, and Hunter Hayes.

"The process of writing original music can be different every time," she said. "It also depends who you are writing with. Sometimes you will have a great melody stuck in your head and come up with lyrics from there, or other times you will have a lyric idea and come up with a melody to fit it."

Julia Sheer also has a precious one-and-a-half year-old English bulldog named Hank. Julia and Hank moved to Nashville in March.

"He's kind of smelly and snores a lot, but I think he's the cutest thing in the world," Julia said. "He is my best buddy."

Last year, Julia was a part of the "An Evening with Alex Goot" tour, headlined by fellow musician Alex Goot.

"Touring with Alex was great," Julia said. "He is so talented and makes it so fun to work with him. I'm lucky to call him my friend."

Luke Conard, Against the Current, and Six Stories Told also were a part of the tour throughout the east coast and Canada.

"The tour was such an amazing experience," Julia said. "Everyone who was on the tour got really close and I'm so happy that I made such awesome new friends. It's also so great to actually meet face to face with the people who watch our video and make all of this possible."

Julia is currently gearing up to go into the studio to record an original album.

"I am so excited about all the songs and cannot wait to hopefully release it this fall," Julia said.

So far, Julia's favorite collaboration has been her cover of "Diamonds" by Rihanna, which she performed with Chad Sugg and Alex Goot.

"We just had so much that night recording and filming the video," she said. "I also loved collaborating with Black Prez and Landon Austin."

Next, she hopes to collaborate with the band Against the Current.

"I've gotten pretty close with Chrissy from the band and I love her voice," she said.

She'd also love to work with Boyce Avenue.

Julia currently has more than 400,000 subscribers, and that number of dedicated fans is growing by the day.

"I think picking songs that people love and word of mouth have been two big factors that have helped me out tremendously," Julia said.

Julia started out as a girl with an incredible voice and a big dream. She doesn't think her success is something that only she could accomplish.

"My advice would be to always listen to yourself," Julia said. "Never let anyone make you feel like your dreams are too big or that you are too small. Do the things that make you feel good about yourself. It's impossible to please everyone, so do the things that make YOU happy. That's what really matters at the end of the day."
