PREMIERE: How Kayden Found Her Place in New Single ‘Meant to Be’

With her role as Hartley on Disney Channel's The Villains of Valley View and some stunning musical releases, Kayden made quite the first impression on us in 2022, and 2023 just might be an even bigger year for the star.

The second hilarious season of Villains of Valley View is currently in full swing, but that's not the only thing the singer-songwriter, actress and dancer has been up to. Tomorrow marks the official release of her first single of the year, "Meant to Be," but today, she's premiering the upbeat, synth-driven summer bop right here on Sweety High. We happen to think the confident new track is Kayden's strongest release yet, so listen to the track here before you can find it anywhere else, and keep reading for our full interview with Kayden.

The Story Behind 'Meant to Be'

Kayden: "Meant to Be" is about me needing to escape from all the craziness in my life and go back to my hometown to recharge my mental battery and realize what a great life I have. It's easy to lose yourself in a place like Los Angeles, so coming home gives me a reminder of who I truly am. I recently turned 21, so I wanted to write a song that I could come back to years later and reminisce on my opportunities and how far I've come. Plus, I really wanted a summer banger that my friends and I could jam out to at the beach.

What 'Meant to Be' Means

Kayden: Sitting down in the studio and writing this song really helped me realize how blessed I've been over the past few years. Moving out to L.A., getting my dream job, getting to make the music I want and share my voice, to having the best support and team behind me. The lyrics to the song say exactly how I feel—this is the exact place I am meant to be! I just hope to share this message with everyone else through this song. I hope they find the peaceful place in their life and share the message forward with others.

I'm really excited for this to be released because it came from such a personal place in my life. I really hope people feel like they can relate to this song in a way that resonates with their life and just give them a fun, positive, upbeat vibe during the whole three minutes and 11 seconds that they're listening.

Kayden Favorite Lyric

KAYDEN: My favorite would have to be "Catch a flight out of L.A., going back to my own place, feel upon sun upon my face, no thoughts about it." I grew up in Florida, and there is nothing like driving to the beach on a hot, humid day blasting music with friends and just enjoying the sun. Any anxiety or pressure I feel just melts away and I wanted my song to explain that exact feeling.

Kayden's Summer Plans

Kayden: This summer, I am writing many more songs while enjoying the Florida heat! I just finished making a new song that will hopefully be released after "Meant To Be." It's a totally different genre than this single, but I'm excited to see what my listeners think!
