11. Her new single, "mood ring," was inspired in part by her boyfriend's gorgeous eyes.
"That idea evolved into A) the idea of watching the memories of falling in love through the colors of your lover's eyes and B) the idea that that person's eyes could literally show what they're thinking, and the memories they're recalling in that moment, based on how they change color. As a kid with brown eyes I was always jealous of people with blue/green/grey eyes that changed color, and I'm dating someone with those eyes, so (like all my songs) it pulled inspiration from my real life."
–Kira Kosarin
12. Kira hopes that "mood ring" will be a song that can someone can sit back and let wash over them.
"Actively listen to the lyrics and paint a visual story in your head. I like that dichotomy. I hope it accesses some sort of emotion and that people will come back to it whenever they want to pull out that exact feeling again. I think that's one of the best parts of music, for me at least."
–Kira Kosarin
13. One lyric in partifular inspired the cover art for "mood ring."
"'I know flowers always die, but the gold that's in your eyes, it reminds me of the ones we saw on the day we went through the hills and I almost said three little words that I can't take back, but I thought, not yet, not yet, not yet…" I love that this whole long section is really just one sentence swirling through a story. It's great imagery to me."
–Kira Kosarin
