Kylin Kalani Dishes on Her Upcoming Role in X: The End Time and the Power of Acting

15-year-old multihyphenate Kylin Kalani is currently doing it all.

She's been in the business nearly a decade at this point, acting onscreen since she was just 6 years old. The Florida-born talent is currently living in Los Angeles where she's making her acting dream come true. But acting isn't her only passion. She's also had a successful modeling career, participating in L.A., New York and London Fashion Weeks, as well as being a reality star, singer and anti-bullying advocate. And as the star of the upcoming feature film X: The End Time, she's only just getting started.

We got the chance to chat with Kalani about each of these incredible aspects of her career—and which one she feels she was born for.

Sweety High: When did you first discover your love for acting? What is it about the job that you're most passionate about?

Kylin Kalani: I was always pretending my life was a movie from when I was about 4 years old. Sometimes my mom would even ask me "Who's with me today?" I think my love for storytelling back then sparked the interest. I love that I can take a character and their words on paper and breathe life into it to bring the story to life. It's liberating being able to evoke emotion to my audience through my acting, and being able to affect that audience is even more fulfilling.

SH: Between being a model, actress and singer, is there one role you love most?

KK: That's a really difficult question because I really enjoy all of them and derive a different satisfaction from each one. But, if I had to choose just one, I've been focusing on my acting, I really feel like I was born to act.

SH: If you had to pick one moment as the highlight of your career so far, what would that be?

KK: I would have to say, being announced as the lead role in my upcoming movie X: The End Time has been the highlight of my career. It was a lengthy process, but I'm so grateful that the producers ultimately decided I was the right actress for the role.

SH: What is the toughest thing about your line of work? What's the most rewarding?

KK: In general, the thing that is most difficult about Hollywood is finding genuine, deep friendships in the industry. The most rewarding thing is when I know I have helped someone emotionally, spiritually or uplifted their day in some way. That makes my day as much as it makes theirs.

SH: Where are all of the places we can catch your work at the moment?

KK: Instagram and IMDb are where you'll be able to find all of the projects I'm linked with. As for my movies and TV shows, they will all air in 2022.

SH: As a fashionista, can you tell us your favorite style trends for the season?

KK: To be honest, right now my favorite look has been vintage clothing from my mom's closet. I love being able to create outfits and styles out of things you can't find in stores today. I especially love my accessories. If anyone knows me, they know I've got to have my boots—vintage or not! My advice is to save your money and spend it on your accessories, shoes, belts and purses.

SH: What is wEyes Up? What inspired you to create it, and what type of work are you doing to keep people safe and end cyberbullying?

KK: wEyes Up is an organization that addresses the issue of online hate and cyberbullying. I created wEyes Up because I have experienced my fair share of hate and online bullying, so I felt that it was a widespread issue for others as well. I am just getting started with it, so I haven't been able to put as much time into it as I'd like.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

KK: To all of the people reading this, stay kind, stay humble and be the person you want to be. Love, Kylin Kalani.
