We Sipped Coffee on Mia’s La La Land Stomping Grounds and Got All the Feels
Whether in real life or film, we're all about things coming full circle for well-deserving individuals.
And when my coworker Sarah and I took a trip to the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, yesterday, we had a feel-good moment, reliving Mia's emotional La La Land journey from the first time we see her at Sur Le Lot to the last (**Note: There's a minor spoiler below, so avoid reading if that worries you).
After ordering coffees of our own (almond milk lattes all the way!) to keep us warm on this uncharacteristically breezy day, Sarah and I, along with our friend Ingrid, took a seat at the set where all the magic went down. It was there that we remembered the bright and cheery aspiring actress graciously helping caffeine-craving customers on that famed Warner Bros. lot. And also, of course, when dreamy Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) got her all out of sorts when he took a little visit to her workplace.
But, most importantly, we remember how empowering it felt towards the end of the Oscar-nominated flick, when a now-super successful Mia (Emma Stone) was on the other side of the ordering counter and treated the barista with utmost respect.
The combination of this experience and the Oscars approaching on Sunday have us feeling all sorts of inspired, and if you haven't seen the critically acclaimed flick just yet, get to the theater sometime this weekend. You'll understand why this piece of work has a positive message for everyone!
