LE SSERAFIM’s New Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones Meet Style With Function
There are two things I cannot live without—music and fashion. So, when there's an intersection, I have to jump on it.
These days, how I listen to music has become a statement of its own. Sometimes, it's as simple as posting an "aesthetically pleasing" song on my Instagram story. Or, it's opting for wired headphones instead of wireless earbuds to channel my inner Y2K.
For style purposes, a pair of headphones I've been eyeing for months are the Sony WH-1000XM5. They have a modern, sleek appearance with no excessive branding or bulky functional assets. After I saw the colorway K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM released in collaboration with Sony, I knew I finally had to try them out.
If you haven't seen the headphones, the quintet's exclusive shade is Smoky Pink. It's an elegant, understated tone of mauve that pairs flawlessly with any outfit you wear. It's a color I would see someone walking through the city wearing and immediately think, "That's one cool person."
The team at Sony was kind enough to let me try Smoky Pink WH-1000XM5 headphones for myself. Continue reading to discover my honest review.
The Presentation
Buying a pair of Sony headphones is unlike any other experience you would have with other popular brands.
The product arrives in a stone box engraved with the "1000X Series." After it carefully slides out of its case, you'll be greeted by a carrying case that matches the shade of your headphones. If you look at the headphones, you'll notice their subtle gold branding, aligning with the case's gold accent zipper. Plus, the case makes it super simple to throw in your bag while traveling without worrying about damage.

The headphones themselves have adjustable lengths to fit your head size and a padded cushion on the ears to guarantee all-day comfort. They're also super lightweight compared to other options out there, which is a must while working out or wearing for multiple hours.

The Features
Design aside, the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones have some of the most promising features of any headphones on the market.
First, they have the best sound quality I have ever heard from any listening device. They transform lossless audio into an entirely different experience I can't explain in words.
The headphones also have up to a 30-hour battery life. If you're anything like me, you might need to block out loud background noise during long travel times or before bed. It's comforting to know I can wear them even overnight without worrying that I'll be without the silence I need to focus.
Speaking of quietness, it also comes with a noise cancellation feature that truly blocks out even the loudest of sounds. I've had other headphones that claim noise cancellation but I can still hear voices or blasting music.

My Experience
Before you listen to music, you must register your headphones with the Sony Connect app. The item comes with a QR code that makes set-up super simple.
I had the luxury of testing this product on a plane. With other headphones, I've noticed I can still hear the plane's engine despite blasting my music (likely at dangerously loud levels). However, I could listen at a healthy, low volume and feel tranquil.
Lately, I've been more into headphones than earbuds, but some headphones slide off my head or simply cannot adjust to the optimal position. Never was that an issue with these. It was complete bliss and maximum comfort for the entirety of my trip.
This might be the first pair of headphones I've owned with zero issues. If anything, I wished I invested in the Sony WH-1000XM5 sooner.

Bottom Line
There is so much to love about the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, from the noise cancellation to the lightweight fit. But as I mentioned earlier, my favorite thing about these headphones is their stylish nature. After all, when else are you going to find such a gorgeous shade of headphones that you can wear with virtually any look?

As a K-pop fan, I also can't get enough of the fact that LE SSERAFIM had a hand in creating them. It's pretty much the perfect purchase for older fans who still want to carry a piece of their favorite musician in their everyday items.
When you buy them, I do not doubt that you'll never want to wear another pair of headphones again. They're almost too good to be true. Oh, and did I mention they're compatible with any device? They also have an AUX adapter and conveniently charge with the common USB-C charger to fit any need.
You won't be disappointed. The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are available to purchase now for $399.99.
