Anyone born from July 23 to Aug. 1 is a first decan Leo, meaning your sun sign is ruled only by the sun, and giving you the "purest" Leo traits. These Leos are sociable and extroverted, and unusually unafraid to speak their minds. Because they're so outgoing and effervescent, they're also known as attention-seekers who can't get enough of the spotlight. They love to be seen as No. 1, and can't stand having their egos bruised. However, they're also kind, loyal and regal, making great friends as well as partners.

Leo Decan II (Sagittarus) – Aug. 2 to Aug. 12
Second decan Leos, born between Aug. 2 and Aug. 12, are influenced by their native sun as well as Sagittarius's Jupiter. This is a planet known for a sense of expansion, and these Leos tend to be dreamy, philosophical and optimistic. Leos born during this time also love attention, but prefer to be commended on their accomplishments, rather than looks or material things. They're known for being quite lucky, and while their belief that things will usually work out on their own can get them in trouble, they almost always manage to scrape by in the end.

Leo Decan III (Aries) – Aug. 13 to Aug. 22
The third and final decan of Leo lasts from Aug. 13 to Aug. 22, with influences from Aries' ruling planet, Mars. These Leos are especially active and driven, setting their goals high and doing anything and everything they can to reach them. They love a good debate, especially when they're proven right. They're also more fiercely independent than first decan Leos, and while spite can lead them to success, it can also prevent them from taking good advice or owning up to their mistakes.
