Here’s How to Look Your Best for Your School’s Picture Day

Other than your end-of-semester exams, picture day is arguably one of the most stressful days of the entire school year.

You have to figure out the right outfit to wear, the best hairstyle to sport, the makeup look that will best accentuate your features. It's a whole ordeal that generally causes way more trouble than necessary.

To ensure that you get through your school's picture day with the greatest of ease, we're sharing our tips for surviving the anxiety-inducing ordeal. Scroll below for our advice!

Don't Get a Haircut the Night Before

Changing up your locks right before any major event is a huge no-no. Chances are you probably won't like the cut you get and you'll have little to no time to learn how to properly style it. If you do want to get a haircut, do so at least a week in advance. This will give you ample time to get acquainted with your new 'do or fiddle with it if it isn't up to your standards. Apply the same rule of thumb if you want to dye your hair, too.

Stick to Your Normal Makeup Routine

As with any picture you take, you want to look your best. Chances are your parents are going to frame this photo and keep it around the house, so looking nice is top priority. This may cause you to want to go all out with your makeup. Don't. However you normally do your makeup is exactly how you should do it on picture day. If you're set on trying something different with your everyday beauty look, try out a few different looks the days leading up to picture day. You can figure out which one you like best, and if none of them work out, you can stick to the routine you always follow.

Wear What Makes You Feel Comfortable

You're expected to dress relatively nice for picture day, especially as far as your parents are concerned. They'd be happy if you went to school dressed to the nines, but it's totally unnecessary. For the most part your school picture is only going to show the top half of your body, focusing mainly on your gorgeous face. Our advice is to not dress up that nice, especially because then you'll be worried about staining whatever you're wearing the entire day. If you have a nicer top that you really love, go with that. But even if you just want to rock your fave graphic T-shirt, that's totally fine.

Smile the Way You Always Do

If a big toothy grin isn't plastered across your face when you casually smile, don't throw one on just for the sake of picture day. All about the tight-lipped smile? Or do you prefer a more sarcastic smirk? Slap your smile of choice on for your picture and call it a day. Don't overthink it.

Remember You Can Retake Them

If all else fails and you detest how you look in your picture, remember that you can always retake the photo. Yes, you'll have to deal with the whole ordeal again, but hopefully you realize what went wrong the first time and fix that to ensure the best picture day snapshot anyone has ever seen the second time around.
