Photo Diary: LP Giobbi Crafts Musical Magic and Community at Lightning in a Bottle
LP Giobbi is one of the most inspiring women in the electronic music scene, not just for the dreamy and atmospheric music she creates, but for her dedication to opening up musical pathways for all.
Last month, she released her uplifting and bold debut album, Light Places, ahead of an inaugural set at Do LaB's Lightning in a Bottle festival over Memorial Day Weekend, and the two couldn't have been a better match. Lightning in a Bottle is one of the premier electronic music events in North America, dedicated to great live music as well as building connections between music lovers and inspiring them to get creative themselves, giving LP the perfect platform to spread her message of inclusivity in the production world and share the incredible work she's doing with Femme House.
The producer, DJ, classically trained pianist and activist was kind enough to share her insider perspective from the festival, both on and off the performance stage, via the fabulous photo diary below.
Femme House Fireside Chat
My Femme House co-founder, Lauren Spalding, and I had a fireside chat before my set at LIB. Femme House is our non-profit that teaches women and gender-expansive individuals how to produce music through free online workshops and courses, LGBTQIA and BIPOC scholarship programs and festival stage takeovers and tours where we book all-female and gender-expansive lineups. Still, only 2% of producers are women, and we seek to change that.

Love in All the Light Places
It was titled "FEMME HOUSE: Love In All The Light Places – LP Giobbi + HERMIXALOT on Art, Creativity, and Friendship."
We are lifelong best friends and chatted about my artistic journey from inception to now, including squeezing jazz piano gigs between work commitments, the steps I took toward producing my debut album, Light Places, and all the moments of inspiration and friendship in between.

Connection Through Music
I love the live music experience because it's where I find community and am a part of something greater than myself.
