We spoke to Maggie recently regarding her musical career, balancing music and school, and what it's like to be a featured model in Teen Vogue!

"I think I've been interested in music since I was a little girl," Maggie told us. "I found my preschool report card recently, and it said I was very good at remembering the lyrics to the songs we sing in class, so I guess I've always been obsessed!"

Currently, Maggie is a student at Princeton University. She's managed to balance a budding country career with strenuous studies by keeping busy and focused.

"At times, it can get very busy, but I really think the busier I am, the more efficient I can be," she said. "School is so important to me that it was an easy decision to continue to pursue education and music. It's nice to be able to have music as an escape from school-work, so I wouldn't want to have it any other way."

Maggie's country style is reminiscent of Carrie Underwood, who is one of Maggie's primary influences.

"She is so talented, yet very down-to-earth and she seems to really loves what she does," Maggie explained. "Jewel is another one of my inspirations because I think she has such a beautiful voice and unique style. Her music taught me to embrace the uniqueness of my voice, rather than try to conform."

Maggie's latest single is called "Wild Boy." She recently filmed the music video for the track in New York City.

"'Wild Boy' is inspired by that charming guy that almost every girl will encounter some time in her life," Maggie said. "I think we all have someone in mind when hearing—or for me—singing the song. However, it's not just about the guy; it's also about girls becoming empowered and deciding how to deal with the guy."

The music video shoot involved professional photographers, stylists, and artists. The music video has an ethereal feel.

"It is very fashion-based," she explained. "It focuses on a girl dealing with a wild boy in her life, and making decisions with her heart."

Maggie's first video was for her song "First Kiss." The events revolve around Maggie and a special boy in the bleachers at a football game and at a high school dance.

"The video for 'First Kiss' was so much fun to film because I was able to work with an amazing country music video director, Trey Fanjoy, and so many kids my age were involved as well," she said.

Trey Fanjoy has directed music videos for Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and many other country music stars. Maggie is just the next in a long line of talents Fanjoy has directed!

Maggie is also highly involved with the Music is Medicine program.

"This summer I met an amazing girl named Muriel who is a pediatric cancer patient at Johns Hopkins through the Music is Medicine program," Maggie said.

Maggie wrote a song for Muriel inspired by her experiences.

"I recently played the song for her, and recorded it in Nashville," Maggie said. "The track is called 'Live Out Loud,' and I think she really liked it! It's really incredible to see the positive impact of music, especially when it is in such difficult circumstances."

Maggie Sajak was also recently featured in Teen Vogue as a model and  source of fashion wisdom.

"I have always loved reading Teen Vogue, and I have learned so much about fashion and music from the magazine, so it has been amazing to be involved," Maggie said. "For my first article, I was able to try on all of these beautiful clothes and jewelry which was awesome."

Though summer is nearly through, it's not too late to rock Maggie's favorite trends for the season!

"I love wearing dresses in the summertime!" she said. "So I've been wearing a lot of flowery dresses and skirts and dressy shorts. There have also been a lot of beautiful, bold prints this summer, which I love, because you can keep the rest of the outfit simple and let the print shine."

Currently, Maggie is writing and recording music for a full-length album, which should be out spring of next year!

"I'll definitely be spending a lot of time in Nashville in the studio, and I maybe doing some touring soon!" Maggie said. Stay tuned!"
