Maisy Kay Dishes on Bringing Wonderlust: The Dawn on Tour With Tori Kelly
In 2020, English singer-songwriter Maisy Kay flew onto our radars in a big way with her viral TheFatRat collab, "The Storm," with lyrics in Avatar's Na'vi language, but we firmly believe the artist is set to have an even bigger year in 2024.
Maisy released her latest EP, Wonderlust: The Dawn, last month, featuring the stunning tracks "All In" and "Incandescent," and she's gearing up to perform its songs on the stage for the first time on a massive tour. That's because this summer, she's joining Tori Kelly on her international Purple Skies Tour. Together, they'll be kicking things off on Aug. 17 in Taipei, performing across Asia before heading all around North America and finally concluding in Los Angeles on Nov. 9. Ahead of this huge tour, we got the chance to chat with Maisy about her recent music, the tour and so much more. Sweety High: You recently released your latest EP, Wonderlust: The Dawn. What are the overarching themes of the EP, and how do you feel those songs represent where you are in your life journey right now?
Maisy Kay: The overarching themes of Wonderlust: The Dawn are love, joy and hope. These are all topics I don't typically write about, and they are a refreshing change of pace for me. They heavily represent the stage of life I'm at, and that's why they felt so easy and natural to write. It's exciting to get to feel those feelings and write about them.

SH: What does it mean to you that you'll be supporting Tori Kelly on tour? What does your music have in common with hers that makes her the perfect tourmate?
MK: It means the world to get to join Tori on her upcoming tour. I've always looked up to her as an incredible vocalist, and I remember being particularly fascinated by "Sorry Would Go A Long Way" and "Change Your Mind." I listen to them all the time! We both value meaningful lyricism in our music, which is so important.
SH: Are there any new tracks you're particularly excited to perform in front of an audience?
MK: For the first time on this tour, I will be performing multiple songs from Wonderlust: The Dawn, and I can't wait!

SH: Are there any tour destinations you're incredibly excited about?
MK: I am particularly excited about L.A., New York and Chicago, as they were three places I didn't get to perform at on tour before. Still, I'm also looking forward to revisiting some of the old venues and meeting with friends and fans.
SH: Is there anything else we should know about before the tour?
MK: There's a lot more new music coming this year and some fun surprises!
