7 Makeup Removers That Won’t Aggravate Sensitive Skin
For a long portion of our lives, we avoided wearing heavy amounts of makeup because removing it was a dramatic process, especially when wipes were the most common way to cleanse your skin. It led to a lot of pulling, and harsh ingredients like alcohol would make our skin inflamed and acne-ridden.
Today, we unapologetically apply however much we want and feel comfortable taking it off at the end of the day with our micellar water and cleansing balms.
Ahead, find seven of our favorite products to remove our makeup that won't irritate your skin.
Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Towelettes: $6.59
We can't say we prefer wipes, but if we're on the go, one of our favorite options is the Burt's Bees towelettes for sensitive skin. It is infused with cotton and aloe to be easy on your skin. It also has a few ingredients that will soothe acne, like glycerin.

Cetaphil Gentle Makeup Removing Wipes: $6.89
These days, if we use a makeup wipe, we tend to go with Cetaphil. We use a lot of Cetaphil products in our everyday skincare routines, so it's easy to pick up these moist towels and feel confident our face won't be irritated. Like most Cetaphil products, these wipes are non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, perfect for anyone who is acne-prone, and won't irritate sensitive skin with zero fragrance.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: $8.99
For everyday use, we prefer to remove our makeup with micellar water. It tends to be less harsh on your skin because it requires less pulling, and micellar, in general, is a great gentle product. One of the best (and most affordable) has to be the Garnier SkinActive Cleansing water. It removes all our makeup in one swipe.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water Makeup Remover: $12.99
When our face breaks out, we switch to Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. This product has all the traits you should desire: no fragrance, parabens, alcohol or oil. And as people with combination skin, no oil is a big deal for protecting our skin. Your skin will definitely feel soft and renewed after using this.
La Roche-Posay Micellar Cleansing Water Ultra and Makeup Remover: $18.99
La Roche-Posay is the brand to use if you want prescription-level quality without heading to the dermatologist. Even so, the brand is one of the most recommended by dermatologists, which is why we weren't surprised that their micellar makeup remover is amazing.
This product has some of the most gentle ingredients, including poloxamer, a cleansing agent used in contact lens solutions. This also means it's one of the best if you have sensitive eyes.

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm: $24
Cleansing balms are like the heartier version of micellar water—more concentrated and, in general, more intense. One of the most effective has to be the Farmacy Green Clean. It feels great on your face, and the highlighted ingredients (sunflower oil, turmeric and more) will make your skin feel very nourished afterward.
Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm: $38
Clinique's Take the Day Off balm is a classic for all the right reasons. This product is a no-frills balm. With mostly emollient ingredients, everything on your face, from foundation to sunscreen, will slide right off. It has a skincare-like texture that feels natural on our skin, and you can get a lot off with very little product.
