Marley Bleu Channels Unplanned Romance Into Debut Single ‘unintentional,’ Featuring Pink Sweat$
Rising singer-songwriter Marley Bleu may come from a long line of iconic musicians, but she's making a name for herself all on her own, and her official debut single, "unintentional," proves it.
The breezy R&B duet featuring Pink Sweat$ is one of the slickest love songs we've heard in a while, showcasing Marley's honey-like vocals and songwriting prowess as she sings about accidentally falling into an ideal relationship. The dual vocals really bring the song to life, and they're just the beginning of much more to come from the TikTok talent.
Marley also comes from a musical family, with her great-great uncle being the legendary Chuck Berry. Her dad, Al Berry, is also a bassist who's performed with Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Nile Rogers and more both on tour and in the studio. As soon as we heard her debut, we just had to learn more, and we had the pleasure of speaking with Marley all about the single, her multi-layered name and what's next.
The Story Behind 'unintentional'
Marley Bleu: This song was inspired by the story of how I unintentionally got into a relationship that ended up becoming the most intentional relationship in my life. "unintentional" felt like the perfect musical debut because even sonically, you can hear tinges of my favorite artists—upward riffs like Yebba, whistle-riffs like Ariana and overall wholesome love vibes like Tori Kelly.

On the Collab With Pink Sweat$
MB: My friend Rozo, a co-writer of "unintentional," sent the song to Pink Sweat$ and he actually ended up loving it, so he said he wanted to hop on the second verse and recorded his part less than two weeks later. His lyrics add a cool and confident vibe, and his vocals and harmonies add lush vibes!
What 'unintentional' Means
MB: This song speaks to the fact that sometimes the most life-changing events and people in your life aren't what or who you would expect them to be. It definitely gives vibes of open-mindedness and an overall excitement about what life will throw your way.
Marley's Favorite Lyric
MB: "Like the seams on satin sheets, you got in between, least that's how it seems." I like this lyric in particular because it's poetic and visual, and if you listen, we rhymed "seams" with "seems," so we pulled off rhyming homophones.

What's Next
MB: I'm working on an EP, which I am aiming to release early 2024!
On Marley's Name
MB: My actual legal name is Marley Bleu Elise Berry, so not only was I named after Bob Marley, but a fruit as well.
