MaRynn Taylor Dishes on Her Country-Tinged Version of ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’
Nothing puts us in the festive mood quite like listening to Christmas classics, and we love hearing new takes on the tracks we adore most.
Country singer-songwriter MaRynn Taylor recently put her own stunning spin on "O Come, All Ye Faithful," bringing a bit of acoustic twinkle to the iconic carol, and it's sure to delight anyone who can't resist the holidays. We had the chance to chat with MaRynn about her interpretation of the song, and what the holidays mean to her, and she shared it all with us in the interview below.
Sweety High: Has "O Come, All Ye Faithful" always been one of your favorite holiday songs? Out of all of the Christmas classics out there, why did this one speak to you?
MaRynn Taylor: I picked "O Come, All Ye Faithful" for my first-ever Christmas release because it talks about the beginning. I've always loved how peaceful and warm it always makes me feel when I listen to it. It meant a lot to me to make it my own version.
Sweety High: What does the song mean to you?
MT: "O Come, All Ye Faithful" is such a special song to me. Especially the way Doug Johnson and I produce it, it reminds me of a still, snowy night in December. There's something about it that almost makes me feel like a little kid, feeling that Christmas magic.
SH: What's your favorite lyric from the song? Why?
MT: My favorite lyric is "O come let us adore him," 'cause to me, that is what Christmas is all about. It's Jesus's birthday, and it's about giving of yourself and spending time with those around you.

SH: Tell us about the music video for "O Come, All Ye Faithful."
MT: Making the "O Come, All Ye Faithful" music video was so fun! I wanted it to feel like a cozy Christmas night with light colors of gold and white. I felt super cozy in my sweater, that's from Buckle! They styled me so well for this shoot and they also premiered the video! When people watch this, I hope they feel warm, at peace and cozy.
SH: What's your favorite thing about the Christmas season?
MT: I love everything about it! The music, the lights and being with the people I love!
SH: Is there anything else we should know about the track?
MT: Yes, I co-produced it! It's the first song I've been able to do that on. It was so cool to have a voice on what the music part of the song sounds like!

SH: Describe the video in three words.
MT: Glowy. Classic. Christmas.
SH: What does Christmas mean to you?
MT: It's a time of celebration and love! I love Christmas so much for those things!
SH: What role does music play for you in celebrating Christmas?
MT: I love turning on my radio during Christmas time and hearing nothing other than Christmas music. It's a tradition of mine to see when they put it on the radio!
SH: When putting your own spin on this Christmas classic, what were your goals for the sound and production?
MT: I hope it puts people at ease and makes them feel peaceful. Christmas can be stressful and surely be a hustle for gifts and everything. So I hope people slow down and find this song to be a soft and loving version of a classic.
