We Tried McDonald’s New Iced Caramel Macchiato
With the excessive heat we've been experiencing in California, McDonald's new iced caramel macchiato sounded like the perfect chilly pick-me-up.
To ensure that they have everything you need for your morning breakfast run, McCafé has been trying to expand their coffee menu, and the iced caramel macchiato is the newest addition to the list.

The McCafé caramel macchiato promises to stay true to the traditional beverage, pairing espresso with whole or nonfat milk and sweet caramel syrup, but how did it measure up in the taste department? We decided to find out.
Appearance-wise, the caramel macchiato basically lines up with the advertisement. The espresso has a slightly lighter color, but there is a obvious division between the coffee and the milk, and the caramel ribbons are clearly visible.
At first taste, the only thought that enters our mind is wow, caramel! The caramel flavor completely dominates this little drink, making it incredibly rich and very, very sweet. Upon further tasting, we are able to focus on the espresso flavor, but it definitely takes a backseat to the buttery and flavorful caramel.

After mixing the drink a bit more, there is a better balance between the sweet caramel and the rich espresso. If caramel is your go-to flavor, you'll have no problem enjoying this beverage. Opting for nonfat milk might tone down the sweetness if you're not a fan of sugary flavors.
Overall, the drink was pretty tasty, but you definitely have to be prepared for a rush of caramel and a lot of sugar.
