Meghan Grew Up in the Entertainment Industry

Beyond her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan is best known for her role as Rachel in the TV drama Suits, which she has starred in since 2011. Even before landing the role on Suits, however, Meghan was no stranger to the entertainment industry. Her father's job as a television lighting director meant that Meghan spent a lot of time on television sets while she was growing up. In fact, her father's work on iconic shows like General Hospital and Married With Children earned him a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Direction for a Drama Series in 2011.

She Attended Northwestern University

Meghan graduated from Northwestern University in 2003, with a double major in theater and international studies before going on to pursue her acting career. She has said that her time at college helped her to fully come to terms with her identity and become comfortable with her background and upbringing. If you want a sneak peak into Meghan's college years, click here to see an old photo that her sorority recently shared.

She Met Prince Harry on a Blind Date

Apparently even princes need a little help finding their perfect match. In their interview with BBC, Harry and Meghan revealed that they first met on a blind date that was set up by a mutual friend. They didn't really know anything about each other, but they had an immediate connection that prompted their whirlwind romance. They admit it was probably a good thing that they didn't have a lot of prior knowledge about each other. Instead of listening to outside reports, the couple was able to develop their connection between just the two of them, allowing them to build a rock-solid foundation for their relationship.

Meghan Is Leaving Suits and Moving to the U.K.

The day after her engagement was announced, USA Network released a statement saying that Meghan would be leaving Suits at the end of season 7. Instead of starring on the small screen, Meghan will be moving to the U.K. to be closer to her future husband. However, while the engagement was only announced this week. the writers of Suits decided to write Meghan out of the show more than a year ago.  They saw how in love Meghan was with Prince Harry, and took a gamble on their relationship working out. Thankfully that gamble paid off, making Meghan's transition to a member of the royal family a whole lot easier.

The Wedding Is Set for Next May

The royal palace has announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially going to tie the knot next May at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. They are striving for a wedding that upholds royal traditions, while still reflecting the unique personality of the couple.
