Everything You Wanted to Know About Haitian Producer Michaël Brun
Latin Grammy-winning Haitian producer Michaël Brun isn't just an incredible artist, but also a man on a mission.
From the very beginning, he's used his music to bring the culture and music of his native Haiti to a global audience while also incorporating sounds from his travels and collaborators, creating an ever-changing sound that's truly his own. His latest release, for example, was "Sak Pase," a sizzlingly smooth multilingual single featuring Saint Levant and Lolo Zouaï in English, Arabic, French and a dash of Haitian Creole. His music is about fostering togetherness, with his Bayo tours recreating the musical block parties he'd throw back in Haiti, and he's even a partner with PLUS1, with one dollar for every ticket sold at his shows going to charities benefitting local communities there. "I care really deeply about creating global cultural bridges and bringing more empathy into the world. My mom is Guyanese and my dad is Haitian, so I grew up in an extremely multicultural home. I think people finding belonging and purpose brings happiness to their lives, and I try to create spaces through my music for people to feel welcomed and empowered."
