mimiirose Discuss Their Unique Charms, First Comeback and Reflections on Their One-Year Anniversary
After an eagerly awaited year, mimiirose has marked their return with LIVE.
Recognized for their vibrant style and fun concepts, the K-pop group has once again infused their new release with their signature flair. In this exclusive interview, we delve into the essence of their first comeback, explore their unique qualities and commemorate their one-year anniversary. Sweety High: LIVE is your first comeback. Congratulations! What would you like to share about this mini-album?
mimiirose: Our second single album, LIVE, is filled with mimiiroses' unique charm that we didn't show on our first album. We wanted to showcase not only our different sides but also our determination and hard work during our hiatus.

SH: In the "FLIRTING" MV, you each play a character. Which character do you think relates most to your personality?
YeonJae: Since all of us played villains, I wouldn't say characters fit our personalities in real life, but image-wise, JiA fits the concept best. Her chic and intense aura really complemented the gangster image.
HyoRi: I'd say YeonJae. Perhaps because she's our leader in real life, her role in the music video came naturally to her. While all the members did a great job, YeonJae seemed to have the best synergy with her character.
JiA: I think the characters were more determined by our looks rather than our personalities. Everyone embodied their respective characters well, but since YeonJae is our leader and took on the role of the "boss," it felt like a perfect match.
YeWon: While everyone portrayed characters to suit their personalities, I believe YeonJae's role as the "boss" fit her the best. It naturally suited her since she is the group's leader in real life.
YunJu: I think, every member did a great job, and their characters suited them well.

SH: Do you have any funny or memorable moments from filming the "FLIRTING" music video?
YeonJae: During the music video shoot, we had bossam (Korean pork dish) for dinner one night. I really love garlic, but I was worried that eating garlic might give me garlic breath during the shoot. So, I actually brought garlic back to our home. It was funny how everyone teased me about my genuine love for garlic.
HyoRi: There's a scene where I close the bag to eliminate the hacker when that person gets inside the bag. However, I had long acrylic nails and kept fumbling with the zipper because of them. It made the shoot a bit longer, and I felt sorry for the actor. That moment stuck with me.
JiA: There was a scene where all the members walked on a grassy field and we were all wearing heels. However, the ground was muddy, so our heels kept sinking into the mud, and it was quite comical.
YeWon: One scene that stands out to me is when I lay on a sunbed on a wide grass field during the part where we sing, "Oh, I'm a girl who plays the flute, universe in me." The sunlight was very strong that day, and it was hard to keep my eyes open. It was also my first time doing a scene where I just lip-synced without any facial expressions, so it was fascinating and memorable.
YunJu: I played the role of a thief in the MV, so I had to wear and remove my mask constantly. My makeup held up well despite the mask, and that helped me complete the shoot successfully.

SH: Which of the songs on LIVE is your favorite, and why?
YeonJae: I like the song "TIPSY." I listened to it a lot during our preparation period, and it's a song that never gets old and continues to be enjoyable.
HyoRi: "A-OK." I tend to focus more on the lyrics than the melody when listening to songs, and "A-OK" has lyrics that resonate with me and offer comfort. Especially the part where all the members shout "A-OK" together. It's so uplifting, and I've been moved by it many times. That's why "A-OK" is my favorite.
JiA: My favorite is "TIPSY"! While we haven't showcased much rap in our previous songs, "TIPSY" allowed me to showcase more of my rap skills, and I'm really happy about that.
YeWon: I love the song "A-OK." The melody is so catchy and it feels like a remedy that I can listen to repeatedly.
YunJu: It's "TIPSY" for me! The chorus has a beat and melody that I really enjoy, and the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

SH: You do a lot of experimenting with genres in your songs. Is there a genre you would like to try that you haven't already?
YeonJae: I'd like to try a dreamy or sexy concept in the future.
HyoRi: I'd love to try rock. All the members want to explore this genre, too. We believe it would suit our active and cool image well.
JiA: I'd like to try R&B as a genre for B-side tracks. I think our members' vocal and rap skills would blend perfectly with R&B.
YeWon: For our next comeback, I'd like to explore a dreamy genre that's different from our current concept for the title song.
YunJu: I'd like to try a dreamy or innocent genre.

SH: What do you hope bloomii will enjoy the most about this comeback?
YeonJae: Our title song "FLIRTING" has many addictive parts, making it easy to sing along to. In addition, the B-side tracks are also great. Please show them a lot of love and listen to them!
HyoRi: Just like our first album, our second album has songs with different vibes. So, whether you're feeling happy or down, you can listen to our music. I hope our songs have become a part of bloomii's lives and they enjoy every moment with us.
JiA: I hope bloomii enjoys the diversity of mimiirose's music. Apart from the title song, the B-side tracks are completely different in terms of genre and we've been showcasing them through challenges and videos. I hope they enjoy this variety.
YeWon: Since this comeback took us a year, I hope bloomii has enjoyed witnessing our growth and the unique stages of mimiirose. I also hope they enjoy our title song, "FLIRTING," and the new B-side tracks.
YunJu: I hope bloomii enjoys the way we've changed and finds captivating aspects in that.

SH: You have just celebrated your one-year anniversary! What is your favorite moment from the last year that you spent together after debut?
YeonJae: I find happiness every time we step onto the stage. We rely on each other and have fun together.
HyoRi: I'll always remember our debut showcase day. It was our first time meeting our fans and showing ourselves on stage. We were inexperienced, but that made it feel fresh and exciting. It remains one of the most joyous moments for me.
JiA: I think our debut showcase, which marked the starting point of our one-year journey, stands out the most. It was the first time we, as mimiirose, met our fans and performed on stage! It's an unforgettable and significant memory in our lives.
YeWon: While there have been countless enjoyable moments during our time together, the day of our comeback after a long break was particularly special. It felt great to come back as a more mature and evolved mimiirose.
YunJu: The moments when we supported and encouraged each other during challenging times and watched each other grow have left a strong impression on me. It's been a source of strength for all of us.
