7 Self-Care Practices You Can Do Monthly

When was the last time you did something just for yourself?

When it comes to self-care, it's okay to be a little bit selfish, and we believe in taking care of our bodies and minds. There are little things you can do every day, but what about those bigger things? Below, we've curated a list of seven self-care practices you can do monthly.

1. Have a Girls' Night

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is to be around people who love and care about you. Grab all your besties and have a girls night you'll remember forever! Whether you get all dressed up for a fancy dinner or stay in watching Netflix and doing face masks, girls' nights are key to happiness.

2. Buy Yourself Some Fresh Blooms

Who said you have to wait for a romantic partner to buy you flowers? Not us! We love the idea of picking up your favorite blooms and treating yourself. Place them in your favorite vase and be sure to water them as needed!

3. Read a Fun Book

We're all for bettering ourselves, but there are times we want to just kick back and relax. Reading a no-nonsense, fun book is exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to self-care! Find an easy read or pick up that one book you've been eyeing, and get to reading.

4. Get a Mani-Pedi

Getting a mani-pedi every month isn't in everyone's budget, so even if you can go to the nail salon, do it yourself at home! Pit on some relaxing, spa-like music, throw on a face mask and paint your nails whatever color makes you happy.

5. Unfollow People on Social Media

Unfollowing toxic people on social media is one sure way to lift up your spirits. Whether it's a person who is always complaining, one who sets unrealistic beauty standards, a person who posts way too much for your liking or something else, now is the time to purge them out of your social feeds.

6. Have a Food Cheat Day

Here at Sweety High, we're firm believers in feeding our bodies healthy, safe foods. But since we're merely human, we love to cut ourselves some slack from time to time, without any of the guilt. If you're over salads or your almond milk latte, go all out with a burger, fries and even a sugar-loaded frap—whatever tickles your fancy.

7. Declutter Your Living Space

Lastly, declutter your living space! The last thing anyone wants is to live in a complete pig-sty, right? Make your bed every morning, change out your sheets every one or two weeks, throw out or donate old clothes, organize your desk and keep a planner—this will all keep you sane and clean.
