MOONBIN&SANHA of ASTRO Reveal the Meaning of New Mini-Album, INCENSE

ASTRO's first sub-unit MOONBIN&SANHA have proven their incredible music prowess again and again, and they've truly outdone themselves with INCENSE.

Their third mini-album dropped on Jan. 4, with six rousing new tracks that are impossible to forget—most of all, the vibrant title track, "Madness," with a pounding bassline and electronic stings designed to get you on your feet. Both artists contributed as songwriters for the mini-album, demonstrating their growing strength as artists, and their desire to have their music lingering in the memory like the scent of incense. We had the pleasure of speaking with them both about their new music, and here's what they shared with us.

Sweety High: What does the mini-album name INCENSE mean to you both? Why did the title track "Madness" feel like the best representation for the mini-album as a whole?

MOON BIN: I think "Madness" is the track that best describes INCENSE both lyrically and musically, so that is why we chose it as the title track to represent the album.

SH: What do you feel are the overarching themes of the mini-album? What kind of journey do you hope to take listeners on with it?

MOON BIN: For this album, we thought of creating a concept from one of human beings' five senses. Among those, "scent," or sense of smell, seemed like the most memorable sense, so we decided to build a concept around scent. We hope to imprint MOONBIN&SANHA's own scent on everyone so that the audience can be reminded of our scent every time they listen to our music or watch our performances.

SH: Tell us about the process of creating the title track "Madness" and the rest of the mini album.

MOON BIN: I remember that we recorded the narration and chorus parts multiple times. Another fun memory is from recording "Chup Chup." There is a part that goes, "Yeah, chup chup," and I felt like I was an English teacher when I was recording that part, haha. I definitely put in a lot of sincerity.

SH: Why do the two of you work so well together as a team? What are your roles as a duo, and would does each member uniquely add to your music?

MOON BIN: I believe our strength is "everything that is visible." I also think we both have good physiques, so we prepared this album to present "music that is visible."

YOON SAN-HA: MOONBIN&SANHA has a dark and sexy image, so we tried to nail down that image in this album as well.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

MOON BIN: We're back with the third mini album as a unit, and this album has great tracks including the title track "Madness," so I hope you enjoy listening to it. Always stay safe and healthy!

YOON SAN-HA: We worked hard on this new MOONBIN&SANHA album for you to get various feelings this year, so please give it a lot of love. With the new year, I hope to create happy memories together with this album's activities. Fighting!
