10 Big Things That Happened in Music the Week of November 12, 2021
When Taylor Swift releases new music, you know you're about to have a good day.
Not only did Tay drop Red (Taylor's Version), but some other artists also released some amazing new tunes, too! From Beyoncé to Avril Lavigne, there is so much to look forward to this week. Not sure what to listen to? Look below for the 10 big things that happened in music the week of Nov. 12, 2021.
1. Fleurie Drops New Single 'Milennium Angel'
If you haven't heard any of Fleurie's music before, allow us to rock your world. She is a true artist and loves to make concept records, which is exactly what her new single, "Milennium Angel," is a part of. Fleurie is able to truly capture what it's like for us to want to be young and fit in, and we think you'll love the dreamy sound she has. In an interview with Sweety High, Fleurie said, "The song is about what it's like to be a girl coming of age in this social media era of history where we're all cultivating and growing our own personal brands as people. That's just what it is to want to 'fit in' this world in this day and age! It's our 'normal.'"
2. Tiggi Hawke Teams Up With Joel Adams in New Song 'You Are for Me'
When we heard Tiggi Hawke and Joel Adams were teaming up for a new song, we couldn't wait to hear what they came up with. "You Are for Me" completely blew us away with its funky beats and nice groove. "For me, the song is incredibly honest and exposing—it's almost like hearing the little voice in someone else's head as a bystander, which is something I can definitely recognize in myself," Tiggi told Sweety High in an interview. "I think we all have an inner monologue as we go through life, and obviously, it's something we just keep to ourselves and rarely share, but I love how this song shows us that train of thought from both sides of the relationship."
3. Influencer Couple Symonne Harrison and Nick Bencivengo Share Single 'With You'
We don't know about you, but we think Symonne Harrison and Nick Bencivengo are the cutest influencer couple out there. Not only do they share it all on YouTube, but they also make music! "With You" is the first single the couple has put out together, and we're in love. "We definitely think you can feel our strong chemistry in the song," Nick told Sweety High in an interview. "Our relationship is built on love and trust with one another. We worked really hard on building this singing journey together and recording the song just brought us even closer together."
4. Gracie Abrams Stuns With New Song 'Feels Like'
Gracie Abrams never fails to bring all the vibes, and her latest single, "Feels Like," is no exception. Featuring a steady beat and her angelic voice, this song is one we can't stop listening to on repeat. We have the lyrics "this is what it feels like" stuck in our heads—in the best way! If you've ever met someone at the perfect time in your life and they made it exponentially better, we think this just might be your favorite new song.
5. Mark Tuan Goes Solo With New Song and Music Video, 'Last Breath'
If you love K-pop, we're willing to bet you're well-aware of the band GOT7, as well as, Mark Tuan. After Mark decided to try out solo music, we couldn't wait to see what he produced, and after watching his music video for "Last Breath," we're so glad he had the guts to go out on his own! Instead of dancing as you'd expect from a K-pop music video, "Last Breath" tells a story, and we love it. In a press release, Mark shared, "The inspiration behind the song was from the experiences I had over the years so it's super personal to me and I wanted to express my feelings through this song."
6. Sebastian Javier Sleighs With New 'Christmas Time' Song
Sound the alarm—Christmas season is finally here! If you're anything like us and have been listening to Christmas music for the last month, you'll be glad to know there's tons of new holiday music being released. Our latest fave is Sebastian Javier's "Christmas Time." It's super relatable and will hit you in the feels. "This song centers on the concept of COVID and how hard it's been to get together with family," Sebastian shared in a press release. "Presents are irrelevant this year, and the true gift is to be with the ones we love. 'Christmas Time' touches on the 'finish line' subject as a means of finally getting to a place where we can be with family as COVID slowly begins to go away. We made it!"
7. Avril Lavigne Brings the Punk With 'Bite Me'
Ever since Olivia Rodrigo came out with "Good for You," we've been super into the punk music scene. And when we heard Avril Lavigne's latest song "Bite Me," we were floored. The music video stars Avril and her band, plus a welcome appearance from Travis Barker on the drums. It's a fun breakup song we think is about to become an instant classic. "I am excited to be dropping 'Bite Me,'" Avril shared in a press release. "It's an anthem about knowing your worth, what you deserve, and not giving someone a second chance who doesn't deserve you."
8. Juice WRLD's 'Already Dead' Hits Close to Home
Even though Juice WRLD tragically passed away in 2019, fans have still been blessed with new music releases from the artist. The spooky name of his latest song, "Already Dead," hits super close to home, but we think it's a stunning track worthy of a listen. It's honestly trippy to listen to the lyrics because he talks about being dead for years, but if you can get past that aspect, we think you'll vibe with the song.
9. Beyoncé Releases 'Be Alive' Before Release of King Richard Movie
Beyoncé is back, baby! Part of the upcoming film King Richard, which is coming to theatres next week, "Be Alive" is a hard-hitting song everyone will enjoy. We think it's such a great song and perfectly encapsulates King Richard, which tells the story of Serena and Venus Williams and their experience coaching with their dad, Ricahrd. This song makes us so excited for the film—next week can't come soon enough!
10. Taylor Swift Finally Drops Red (Taylor's Version)
Swifties can rejoice because Taylor just dropped Red (Taylor's Version). The album has the original 20 songs off Taylor Swift's original Red album, plus the addition of 10 new tracks. We think her previous record label was crazy to leave those songs in the vault. This album has been on repeat all day for us and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Our favorite part of the release has to be the short film she put together for "All Too Well." Starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien, we were 100% left in tears at the end of watching.
