Naomi Jane Explores Young Love and Teases Her Debut EP With ‘Heartbeat Melody’

After crossing the 1 million stream mark on Spotify earlier this week, indie-pop artist Naomi Jane has proven she's a star who deserves to be on your radar.

Known by the nickname "piano poet," Naomi is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone and violin, while also boasting rich, soulful vocals well beyond her years. Those talents are on full display with the release of her latest single, "Heartbeat Melody," which dropped earlier this month, followed by a sweet and playful new music video.

Backed by soulful piano and a driving beat, "Heartbeat Melody" tells a heartfelt tale of romance, capturing all of the butterflies and emotion of young love in a way only Naomi can. It's a refreshing and upbeat anthem about what it means to be in love, and we can't get enough.

"This song is the exact story of how I met my high school boyfriend—I went from swearing off feelings to wearing my heart on my sleeve," Naomi shared in a press release. "'Heartbeat Melody' captures that dizzying emotion."

And lucky for all of us, "Heartbeat Melody" is just a first taste of what's to come, serving as a prologue of sorts to Naomi's upcoming debut EP, sweet talk.

sweet talk promises to take us on a journey of growth and discovery right alongside Naomi, with its five tracks—some based on her true story, others works of fiction—coming together in one narrative to bring Naomi's unique vision to life.

"For my craft, I've been really trying to work on my storytelling because I believe in songwriting it's always difficult to not fall into clichés," Naomi shared. "Inspired by my first real love story, I challenged myself to tell the story with the universal sense of wonder of first love while staying authentic to my experience. 'Heartbeat Melody' has a playful sound. Very Kygo-vibe, girl anthem! I write a lot of songs about love but none of them have ever highlighted love to be this amazing thing. All of them sorta diss love. So often songs dwell on deceit, heartache and the breakup. This song is about the fun of falling in love! When you want to shout it out, tell the entire world. You stay up all night talking on the phone! Can't sleep because you're thinking of them. That mind-dizzying feeling. It's universal. Everyone's been there. This song is the start, the evolution of falling, falling into love and into the storyline of my EP, sweet talk, and I'm so excited to share it as the first single."

And sweet talk won't be just your average EP, but a full experience rolling out to tell a larger story. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for the release of Naomi's next single, "Press Send," on Nov. 8, with the video dropping the following week, ahead of the full EP release on Dec. 6. The headline track, 'TACOBELL," will also premiere an official video on Dec. 13, with the tale continuing into the new year with special videos for "Like Like Love" in January and "Socks" in February.

It's an exciting time to be a Naomi Jane fan, and we're already begun counting down the days.
