NERIAH Captures the Freedom of Young Summer Love in New Single, ‘Driving Weather’
Singer-songwriter NERIAH is probably best known for her darker, moodier heartbreak anthems, but she's stepping into a new era for summer 2024, and she's never been better.
Following her recent performances opening for Madison Beer on her Spinnin Tour West Coast shows, NERIAH just dropped her latest single, "Driving Weather"—a new taste of her eagerly anticipated second album, releasing this fall. The warm, anthemic pop track is driven by nostalgic synths, beautifully capturing the spirit of young love and a California summer. The song feels tailor-made for blasting with the windows down, offering something completely new for the star, with a more empowered and romantic vibe propelling her forward. The moment we heard it, we simply had to learn more, and we caught up with NERIAH to get the full scoop in the interview below.
The Story Behind 'Driving Weather'
NERIAH: I wrote this song about the summer I fell in love. Whenever it was nice outside, he always called it "driving weather." I am so excited for everyone to hear this song. It is so fun and perfect to blast with the windows down.

What 'Driving Weather' Means
NERIAH: To me, the song really means feeling that first spark with somebody. I hope when my listeners hear it, they see a different side of me. It is such a new sound and definitely gives a sneak peak to what the album is going to sound like.

NERIAH's Favorite Lyric
NERIAH: My favorite lyric is "both feet on the dash, headed for the crash, but now it's nice to remember the driving weather."

On 'Driving Weather' and Her Upcoming Album
NERIAH: It fits perfectly. I think this is the first song that I've released that really shows what the new album is going to sound like. All I can say is that the name is already out there somewhere if you look hard enough. Driving is personally my favorite, so I'm really excited for everyone to read the lyrics. We spent a lot of time crafting this song and it's my favorite storytelling I've done in a while.
