1. SYML Reflects on Lost Love in 'Heartbreakdown'
Artist and producer SYML's next album, Nobody Lives Here, is right around the corner with a release date of April 4. The album promises to contemplate the meaning of life and humanity's place in the universe, and we just got another glimpse with the release of the new single, "Heartbreakdown." It's a soft and folksy acoustic reflection on the prevalence of heartbreak in life, and how no matter how many times we feel it, we have to keep going. "No one is immune to heartbreak, and it happens when we are young and old," SYML explained in a press release. "The best case is it teaches us how we want to love and be loved. The worst is that it hardens us and makes us cynical. The hope in this song is that we learn to forgive after a heart is broken."
2. Cil Gets Stuck on Toxic Love With 'You're a Liar (You Love Me)'
22-year-old artist Cil has gone viral again and again thanks to her sassy attitude, arresting vocals and unique lo-fi R&B sound, her latest song, "You're a Liar (You Love Me)," feels primed to be yet another hit. It's a soulful call-out track about a situationship that both parties refuse to let go of, breaking each others hearts again and again in the process. "It's surreal in a way, 'You're a Liar (You Love Me) is out now!'" Cil shared in a post on Instagram. "This song came from a very real time in my life, and although the song has its own meaning, to me it's so much more. This song was the beginning of forgiving and loving myself. It took me a year and a half to really be able to say that. This song brought me nothing but good luck so far, and I know it will do the same for you. And to note, you're not a passion project, something to be eternally worked on or perfected. Eventually you'll always look back on yourself, and you'll realize what a gift you are and what a gift this life is. Everyone I know, used to know and will come to know thank you, I will always have a grateful heart for the love and the lessons. Cheers my dears. This song is now yours."
