P1Harmony Are Killin’ It With Their First Full-Length Album
In the world of K-pop, P1Harmony is somewhat of an anomaly. In only three years, the six-piece group has performed in venues across the globe on their massive world tour, starred as action heroes in their very own movie and performed at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball alongside some of the biggest names in pop music. Still, perhaps the most impressive thing about P1Harmony is that they've accomplished all of this despite not even having a full-length album—until now.
Killin' It, the group's first full album, represents the best of what K-pop has to offer: catchy melodies, addicting dances, stunning visuals, incredible rap and vocal skills and top-tier fashion. Everything about it seems larger than life. But when you strip away all the flashiness, what's left are six storytellers using music as a medium. Across six mini-albums, P1Harmony has woven an epic space odyssey which reaches its conclusion with the release of title track "Killin' It," an energetic song with a booming 808 base and confident lyrics to match. It serves as the perfect introduction to the album and to P1Harmony's exuberant music style. From the first few seconds alone, listeners know they're in for an exciting ride through an album that covers chill pop, romantic ballads and hip-hop tracks. As their first full-length album, it's a testament to their creativity and growth as artists.
In this interview, we sat down with P1Harmony to learn more about Killin' It, a special song dedicated to P1ece and their hopes for 2024.
Sweety High: Killin' It is your first full-length album. Why was now the right time to release a full album?
Jongseob: We just wrapped up a whole year of touring, and from our debut album up until now, we've had this huge storyline with our Harmony and Disharmony albums so we felt like it was just the perfect time to release a full-length album to wrap that whole era up. Finishing it off with a bang with a full-length album just seemed like perfect timing, so that's why we chose to do it now.

SH: Did you go into this album with a different mindset, knowing that it's the first full-length album, or did it feel familiar?
Jiung: Of course, there was a little bit of pressure because it's the first full-length album. It's a big project so we had a little bit of pressure, but we tried to receive it in a good way as responsibility or encouragement, so it helped us a lot. I think the album is really good.
SH: On this album, there are a lot of different types of songs. You guys experimented a lot, so do you have a favorite song from the album and why?
Jiung: I like "Countdown to Love" because I like being on stage and receiving the energy from the crowd. I really like performing up-tempo songs and it's fitting for our performances. If we perform that song on stage, people might go crazy.
Jongseob: My favorite song is the title, "Killin' It," and "Street Star," because those two songs kind of represent what we're best at and what we're very good at.
Keeho: For me, I like "Late Night Calls." I like the beat and I feel like that beat in the chorus is very influenced by Afrobeats. I've always been a huge fan of Afrobeats, so it's a given I just love that song.
Theo: I like "Street Star" because I think that we'll do a good job performing it on stage.
Intak: My favorite song is "Street Star" because I feel like it's a song that represents me and suits me. In the teaser, I danced to "Street Star" by myself, and while I was filming that, I felt like the song really suited me.
Soul: I like "Late Night Calls" because of the choreography. I like how the choreography is very smooth and there's not really anything sharp or punchy. It's very smooth, just like the song.

SH: "I See U" is a beautiful song dedicated to P1ece. Why was it important that you included a song for them?
Jiung: They're the reason that we're here, so if they weren't here, we couldn't be here. We always try to give back the love that we receive, so I wanted to give them a gift. I hope they like it and enjoy it. I think it's such a lovely song.
Keeho: It's a cute little song for the fans.

SH: You guys had an amazingly successful 2023 with a tour, performing at iHeart Radio's Jingle Ball, your New Hope Club collaboration and "Fall In Love Again" hitting U.S. radio Top 40. Are there any lessons you learned from last year that you want to bring with you into 2024?
Keeho: I have a big one. I think something that I really learned a lot from is the fact that you can never rely on anyone to do anything for you. You really need to make it yourself, and obviously there are so many amazing people that support us and love us and really help us achieve our goals and dreams and work right next to us in the process of making everything, but at the end of the day, if you really want to make something happen you need to put in that extra effort and you need to go the extra mile. You can't expect everyone to do everything for you, and I feel like that's such a hard pill to swallow, but I think it's such an eye-opening thing I learned in 2023. Hopefully, with what I learned from last year in 2024, I'll be able to do more and more greater and bigger things with the strength of all of us together. I'm really excited about what this year will bring for us.

SH: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Jongseob: Last year, we were only able to release one mini-album, so starting off 2024 with a good comeback, we really wanted to show you guys something very new and special for this full-length album. We expressed a lot of different messages in all 10 songs, so we hope that our fans really listen to every single one of the songs and are able to relate to it, laugh to it, cry to it, smile to it—whatever it may be in their own respective ways. We hope that everyone's just along for the journey and we all just have fun while doing it.
