A Definitive Ranking of Waxing Locations, From Least to Most Painful
There's one thing we will never stop raving about, and that's how much we love waxing.
It's so nice to be able to set up a wax appointment and not have to worry about our hair growing back for another four weeks, and even when it finally grows back, it doesn't feel prickly and itchy.
That said, we've been waxing our bodies for years—and many different parts of it, too. Below, find our definitive ranking of waxing locations, from least to most painful, so you know what to expect during your first appointment.
6. Arms
We waxed our arms once out of curiosity and were shocked to see how painless it was.
If you've ever waxed before, you probably know the sensation of going over the area with a second wax. Usually, it doesn't hurt at all because there's little to no hair being removed. That's pretty much what waxing your arms feels like.
Of course, this will vary depending on how thick your arm hair is, but as long as you trim the long hairs down, it should be a smooth process.

5. Eyebrows
For the most part, waxing your eyebrows isn't painful. The hair tends to be thin, and because it's a small surface area, it's over in seconds. In most cases, your waxer will apply five wax strips—on the upper part of your eyebrows, the center and the lower part. The lower half tends to be the most painful but feels identical to a quick pinch.
Threading your eyebrows, on the other hand, feels like razor blades to your skin. That's a story for another time.

4. Lips
Lip waxing was another one of those things we tried out of curiosity, and it felt like getting the lower half of our eyebrows waxed over a larger area. If that sensation is too painful for you, we highly recommend using Nair to remove those pesky whiskers. As long as you follow the directions, it'll feel like a face mask. First, make sure to test the cream on a less sensitive area (like your arm) to confirm you have no allergies to the product.
3. Bikini
The reason bikini waxing hurts is that the hair is more coarse, covers a large area and houses many nerve endings. Thankfully, there's more fat in this area, so it provides some cushion. We're the type of people to get razor burns after shaving, so waxing is a necessity.

2. Armpits
We were surprised waxing our armpits was as painful as it is. Again, the pits are an area with pain intensity determined by the thickness of your hair. Maybe we just weren't blessed with thin armpit hair, which makes it hurt a lot more. That said, there are way too many benefits, from the hair growing back thinner to the skin becoming lighter.
1. Legs
Most people would probably argue a bikini or Brazilian wax would be most painful, but there's nothing worse than a leg wax for us. It's hard to explain, but it resembles the feeling of tweezing. Apparently, waxing our legs is sensitive because it's right on the bone.
But as much as we dislike waxing our legs, we dread shaving even more. If you're like us and don't want to give up waxing, we suggest opting for sugar wax instead. It was our lifesaver.
